Yep, I realise the difference, just got caught up with all of the ‘tailplane’ talk on the Kinloss thread. Perhaps a nice mod will change the title for me.
Here’s two more, unfortunately not mine though.
Bombing of Darwin
Battle of the Coral Sea
-I am inclined to think that offered to an art gallery to hang in a polished state
That is a good idea, look how well that turned out for the poor Jag.
I have to admit that I have personally been responsible for the destruction of 2 airframes with only the cockpits surviving. Why? Although I would have loved to keep the entire aircraft it was just going to be cost prohibitive to disassemble, transport, reassemble and house appropriately. In the end the cockpits are very well looked after and enjoyed by many people.

I might have to go for a ride!
Great job everybody.
That would be fantastic news if a substantial part of one had manage to escape into private ownership, I bet half of Queensland is knocking on the guys door right now.

Hi
I just want to add my 2 cents worth. I have no idea or concept of the area in question but I think pagen may be wrong in thinking you can look through the hangar, it appears to me that the dark parts visible are the outside not the inside thus leading weight to Nick’s idea of the photographers location.

I can’t offer you much I’m afraid. A sit in my Jaguar cockpit is about the best I can do, unless you want a Su22 fin.

Bet our man in Auz was just looking at the canopy bungees….. 🙂
They are such lovely bungees! I was offered some a little while ago but at 250 pounds each I decided I could do without them for a little longer.

Hi Gerard
That is Mig 29 18114 of the Serbian Air Force, shot down on 26th March 1999 by a US F-15 86-156.

G’day Guys
I am glad this thread was reopened as I have a question that has been bugging me. The photos appear to show no pilot in the cockpit but where has he gone? I would imagine the inside of a racer is very tight and you couldn’t duck down out of sight even if you wished to, you couldn’t lean right forward as your harness would prevent you so where would you go? Is it possible for the seat to fail and collapse?
Just something I have been thinking about.

Mig 23 APU turbine
appears to be working
A Mig 21 cockpit – complete.
Very nice, if only I has space and endless amounts of cash!
