PS can anyone tell me how to put a photo on to my name header please?
Go to ‘User CP’ on the tool bar at top and then ‘Edit Avatar’
I am afraid I can’t help with that, it could be the internals of the PMD, it could also be part of the laser marker and range finder from the nose. The Jaguars carried cameras as external stores so my guess is it is not one. Maybe 12jaguar or some of the other ex Jag pers could ID it.

The knobs give it away and since I have pulled mine out I know what the back of it looks like too! I am just glad to be helping someone else out for a change.

That third photo looks a lot like a Projected Map Display from a Jaguar GR1 or 1A as well as part of the instrument panel it slides into. See the attached pic.

dimensions
Info like the height of the screens is very pertinent so if anyone has a Canuck version in the UK that a height comparison can be made from?…..
If they are close in dimension, they may be usable for our purposes.
Can you take the dimensions of a British one and send it to the Canadian company to see if they are similar?

Sunderlands
Taken from the thread about a Wellington wreck is this link to a Sunderland but it also mentions the scuttled ones including a movement card entry.

Hello Mondariz
Here is another link for you, this time in the US.

things in holes
Have a look at this website especially the links to photos at the bottom and personal accounts, it shows that there is stuff out there still.

Hi Mondariz
Thanks for posting that image of Betio, it doesn’t look like anyone will find any ‘wrecks’ lurking under a bush there! The image does astound me though as every WW2 era photo I have seen shows about 5 buildings for the whole island, lots of smashed palm trees and bomb craters – I had naively assumed that it would still look like an idyllic tropical island – not a metropolis.

PS If nobody has any passion or willingness to try out new ideas then they wouldn’t get anywhere.
Labuan
What about this, there are some clearly marked ‘dumps’ as well as dispersals etc…

Tarawa
Here is a map of Betio Island, it is the southernmost island in the atoll of Tarawa and the scene of the main Japanese base and subsequent amphibious assault by the Marines. The map is A3 and would not fit properly on my scanner – taken from “US Army in World War 2” it has the most outstanding battle maps I have seen. It would appear to be fairly easy to compare the original maps and aerial photographs to current GE images

Tarawa
The Japanese runway on Tarawa was parallel to the beach, the current one was originally only a taxiway. Can you see the coastal defence guns that are still in place on the eastern and western points of the island? I don’t have GE.
Paul
Thanks
Hello John
I replied to your PM before I read this so you can ignore it. Those NSN’s are brilliant, when you do a search they come up straight away. Now I just have to work out the difference between the two!
Thanks Paul
Thanks, I should have tried google myself first.
Paul
Could somebody please post a picture of a caterpillar badge for me, I’ve not seen one before.
Thanks Paul
