    Hi Ian,
Yes I’m pretty happy with it. RAAF Lincolns were still fitted with the Glider Tow Lamps up to the early 60’s. I’ll PM you my details for a higher res image, it’s the fine details I am after now such as location of wiring looms, fasteners etc..

Here is how my Lincoln Mk31 panel is looking, you can spend hours and make very little visible progress as its all in the detail. I still need to find 1 instrument which is the altimeter in the attached photo.

I assume this is in Thailand? What is the instrument panel in the background of your last pic?

    I actually managed to purchase one of the compasses I need and for reference of those who have helped me here are the details;

    RAAF Unit Gyro G3 G6B/500129
Gyro Code V.951 for GM2 compass system

I have seen these fitted to RAAF Vampires as well.

    Thanks pfP7063

That’s a great link to the fin in the AWM although their description states that the other fin is in the IWM.

Has anyone from this forum actually seen this item? Call me a cynic but some of the holes in the close up photo appear to be very neat.

    Hello,
I’ve managed to reset the BTRU. The descriptions above helped me greatly although a major difference was that I had to push in the small plunger first and then the second. Without the input of this forum I wouldn’t have thought it possible or even known that I needed to do this to release the other parts of the seat, thanks.

Hi Terry, I’ve asked my friend with the unit for any part numbers etc.. but he hasn’t got back to me yet. And fly.buy, I can’t see that instrument in any of the Shack cockpit photos that google throws up.

    Hi Terry
Maybe I have the designation wrong. The one I am interested in goes in a square hole rather than round as your drawing shows, here is a pic of the front where you can see the raised portion that goes into the cutout. The mounting holes in your drawing match those for the 4 7/8″ tall ‘square’ one my friend has.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I’d be very grateful.

    Hi Anon and others.
Thanks again for all the terrific info I’m receiving. I’ve removed the BTRU and repainted a few bits that weren’t in great shape, I’m just trying to work out a way to reset it with the tools I have but am sure it won’t take long, it is a pain though that when you push the long plunger in the rod / sear for the scissor shackle release comes out. Most of the seat functionality has been restored now except for the safety lock for the faceblind. Here’s my progress so far.

    Hi Mike
Here is what the BFP looks like, it even has a small bit cut out of the top edge. I get the feeling that these were only used in the Mk31 with the Mk30’s having a curved top and different instrument arrangement. Actually my main concern at the moment is to make sure the 3 mounting holes are in the correct place so that I can fit it into my main panel later without any problems.
    Cheers Paul

    Hi Mike
It’s for an Aussie Mk31 Lincoln, I don’t know the stores ref as info on these is very scarce, I’m mainly working from photos and a little Lanc stuff. What part is incorrect.
    Thanks Paul
