HHA Bucc
It is not true and I have no idea where the rumour came from. No prob with MRG either.
HHA Hunter G-HHAC has been doing display practice at Scampton today in preparation for Waddington.
Canberra Lighting
Don’t know if this will help, but if you have the sect ref numbers then I would try natolamps.com. They hold many classic and legacy lighting items. I have just purchased most of the Hunter cockpit lighting through them.
HHA Hunters
HHA still own the aircraft and operate them from an engineering perspective. They will be flown by very experienced FRA pilots who have undergone conversion training by HHA QFIs.
ZZ190 and ZZ191
They are very much back in military service. They are now off the civil register and no longer regulated by the CAA. Regulation is undertaken by TESD (Formerly D Flying) and the TAA (Type Airworthiness Authority) under the military regulations stipulated in the AvP67 publication. This is a set of rules and regulations which encompass the engineering procedures, airworthiness assessment and through life management of continuous airworthiness. In addition it covers the required systems of work to operate the aircraft safely as well as the operational aspects of flying the aircraft in a military environment.
This is without doubt a great achivement for HHA and we are unique for a company of this type and size to be awarded this status which is indeed testament to the engineering and operational professionalism of the company.
Andrewman – HHA have two commitments for May. we are supporting the RAF Coningsby Families day on the 20th May and also appearing at Duxford on the 21st May. Airshow booking confirmations don’t usual come in until end May at best so can’t give you any more info at this time. If you want to see more and get information at first hand you could always attend our Open Day on the 20th or join the Hunterteam Club, see the air scene uk article for details.
Kind words gents, thank you, it is an inspiration to maintain our tenacity in this project knowing that so many people are behind us..
VX927 – We have a total of 12 hunter frames on the inventory 10 of which are maintained in ready or near ready state for flight. The two that were making all the noise at the weekend were undergoing their post maintenance performance check runs. We will only make an aircraft fully ready for flight once we have work for it. The expense of insuring an aircraft for flight plus the overhaul costs of time lifed components does not make good business sense to have the whole fleet ready to go. Those two aircraft and one other will be fully flight cleared for this year with others to be generated depending on tasking requirements.
CKing – I agree it was an excellent article by Gary who works tirelessly to keep his well informed and well constructed site running, mainly through his own dedication and with little or no financial support. It is true that the article did only skim the surface of the depth of work and research that had to be undertaken to get the approval from the CAA but with space and time constraints Gary covered all the salient points and produced an informative and accurate description of events. We are eager to see her fly too and on that day I feel all the difficulties and hard work will fade into memory.
Thanks for your.support guys. We are as keen as everyone to get her back in the air but in aviation everything takes time.
For the full story on the HHA Bucc have a look at the Air Scene UK website. It is a well written article which highlights to all the pain, the frustration and the expense that has been involved in getting the Bucc to this stage.
I stand corrected, you are soooooo right, sorry. Yes we still do have a Canberra cockpit for sale, contact Mat Potulski on mat.potulski@hunterteam.com for further details.
Canberra Cockpit
Sorry our website needs an urgent update. The Canberra cockpit went to Germany last year.
Easy Tiger
The Bucc has indeed been entered into the Complex category, this is not something I say but is what the CAA dictate and yes as we have achieved this wonderful milestone the aircraft does have all the necessary suppporting infraststructure otherwise we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Appearance
The appearance of the Bucc next year will depend on many variables, the least of which are
Will we be able to get all the work done on time and get her permitted (confident on that one but obviously we won’t rush the job)
Will the ever decreasing budgets of the airshow organiser stretch to being able to afford her to appear.
HHA was born from the resources of OFMC and has maintained a close relationship with the company, indeed Ray was our Aviation Consultant. Having met him on several occasions I was always in awe of the man and found it difficult to say anything I thought was worthwhile, his presence and bearing held him above others yet he remained unassuming and I felt to some extent shy by the esteem which was extolled upon him. He is without doubt one of the greats of Aviation and has lived a life of purpose and passion for his love of the classic flying machine.
The HHA team would like to express their sincere condolences to the Hannah family.
Nice photos Skyshadow. I have asked on the historic aviation forum for any comments/criticisms from any attendees in order that we can improve on future days. So please feel free if you were one of the of the 180 people who were their on the day.
HHA Open Day
I hope anyone who attended our open day had a good time. The team enjoyed the day and worked hard to make it a success. We plan to possibly do one next year in conjunction with our aircrew display pactices and DA’s. 180 people attended the day and thus far we have had some very favourable comments, any further feedback / criticisms from any attendees would enable us to improve for future open days, so please feel free to comment.
North West Heritage Group
I can confirm that the above address and phone number given by Scott C is good. Here are some names of the team that may be helpful to you.
Brian Tomlinson
Bob Fairclough
Graham Green
I know all these guys very well having spent a considerable amount of time at Warton with the Typhoon intro to service. They are extremely knowledgeable, almost to guru status, very helpful and have access to a myriad of information through their archives. Can’t praise these people enough for the work they do.
