So does that mean the cows in Clacton are safe then ??????:) I have been worried sick about them…

Tangmere who doesnt exist is now keeping a strangely low profile in this, but then again how could he have a profile if he was never there, so if he isnt there then I must be somewhere else, and if I am somewhere else then this isnt being typed………………………..I am confused now need a drink!

Ken was / is perfectly entitled to post his peculiar brand of fantasy here.

I banned him for one month at the end of the last thread for personal abuse of members, not his pathetic little fable.

That ban has expired. He is welcome to return and fight his corner. But for personal abuse a second time the ban will be three months. And that will be the last one.

We don’t censor (much as we’d like to sometimes). We merely moderate.

Well, I’d have banned him for being at the very least a disruptive influence, one which ultimately has caused more people to join in on an utter irrelevance, than otherwise might have; as I recall, the first mention of the Bader enigma (the second time around), was just that a mention i.e “don’t go there”, it was only after KW popped up and started on about us “school kids” that it started off again.

Even though you “don’t censor”, locking threads and or deleting them amounts to the same, as has already been said the last word on the subject, should be the truth,

This isn’t “second time around” for some of us, where was this sort of moderation when it started up again, why was he not banned from the forum after the first debacle?

If in fact I was a livestock farmer in Clacton with a herd of purebred bovine, I might be annoyed at the suggestion (made on his website ) that the herd was infected with BSE, as I am not, it is just a source of amusement; however this doesn’t excuse his behaviour, and the sad fact is as a result of this being allowed to “kick off ” again he has drawn a few more into his web (site).

I personally think that much of what has been perceived as taunts or “bullying” directed at KW ,was in fact just an attempt to extract as much humour from the “leg” (or lack of) which might easily have been more offensive to someone connected with Douglas Bader ,and I’m sure there was no disrespect there (or any implied)

If indeed you did meet a man in a pub who carried on (not a pun) in this manner, you would tell him where to get off,or leave yourself, but if he followed you home, and put signs up in your garden, or sprayed graffiti on your front wall,to the same levell of abusive slanderas he has done for some here, then you might feel that you had a right to reply.

A long standing member of the BAPC, once said, that the dangers of radiation cannot be over stated; many of the Battle of Britain pilots have suffered severe hair loss, and sadly, some have died .

STUART GOWANS – Breeds pedigree mad cows at Clacton on Sea, Essex!:D

MAD,,,, I bet they are absolutely livid !!!!

I am not a bigot in any form, well sometimes, but that’s not the point, when you put yourself in the fore you have to expect challenge and ridicule, oh and then contempt and loathing, possibly a serving of humiliation, with a topping of shame !

If Ken cant accept criticism he should try another hobby perhaps members could suggest something to occupy his time productively, anyway got to fiddle with my Microsoft stimulator whatever that is 🙂

I wonder how he found out about me and the cows; you need a step ladder you know….

There is a book written to accompany the series , but all the photos are period, with nothing of the actual series.

The graffiti is not the issue with this airframe, it was all the souvineer hunters that robbed, stripped, tore and dismembered as much as they could without any respect for her.

This is common theft and is a damn site more disgracefull than a bit of spray paint, lets not forget that if any of this mindless vandalism hadn’t happened in the first place then maybe she wouldn’t be the lost cause she is now.

    John.

Although some of the “souvineer hunters”, will also be responsible for the graffiti as well, in all probability.

I would like an airframe in similiar condition to restore as a gate guardian , in my view the real crime is to have allowed this deterioration to happen, but as in the case of the Swift , its the owners perogative to do so.

If I could buy it I would, and I would remove every last piece of graffiti from it; anyone who would consider this air @rsehole form of vandalism, as art is beyond me, (God I’m getting old).

You know that old giffer in Oz, the one with the absurd old nonsense about Bader?

    http://www.royalnavymedic1945.com/id41.html

Astounding. It was fairly obvious that he was a crank, but clearly he’s way past that!!!

Thankfully, for all those concerned he is self evidently a crackpot, and the more he writes the clearer that becomes; the downside to the internet, is that idiots like him can ,on their own sites at least, peddle their own version of reality, and slur the names of those they disagree with.

He won’t be around for ever ,and without someone paying, the fees neither will his website.

You said ‘instructors’…they sit in the rear.

    Mark

Not in “Spitfire Ace”, which is the definitive training video, as far as I’m concerned !!

From the tone of the last few posts I think people are getting concerened about the cost being prohibitive, IIRC the flight in a Lightning at Thundercity is in excess of 6k and there seems to be a healthy supply of passengers.

I for one would agree that 1500 to 2000 would not be an over excessive amount to charge for a back seat in a Spit, and as for it being a second rate experience to actualy flying it solo then one should consider the costs of actually doing that!!!!.

I think that a back seat in one of the two seaters would be an experience that would be unrivaled in this country, the smell, sight, sound and feeling of being carried skyward in a spitfire would make even 2k sound pathe

    John.

Don’t misunderstand me I would think that flying in the back would be almost as good as in the front, but actually being capable of controlling the A/C (and allowed to do so ) rather than the token “waggle” .

With regard to the one in the states ,I understand theres a weight limit of 14 stone ,which is strictly adhered to….. thats me out then!

Good point Stuart. However how many of us think of the Spitfire as a trainer?

    Steve.

I suppose it is what it is, not what it was; 2 seat hunters, lightnings, Harriers et al ,are by definition trainers, unlike something like a Bucc (i.e 2 seats but only 1 stick),they are a manufacturers mod.

I think the major hurdle is the cost ,which is never going to come down, as the cost of operation goes up , a friend of mine has been up in ml 407, it cost him in excess of £1200- (on a cost sharing basis obviously) .

There can be nothing quite like flying a Spit, being in full control over it having learnt to fly one properly , as opposed to waggling the stick about a bit in the back, and then telling all your mates you flew a Spitfire!
