Is it too late to say a very big sorry? I can see I have ruffled some feathers and really did not aim, or want to upset anyone. Any room for forgiveness out there??? You have made some valuable points and I will from now on keep my mouth shut – sorry again guys, I love reading your threads and would hate to be dispised amongst you.
Regards
Gav
Don’t worry about it; if you post here, you will upset someone at some point, whether intentionally or not.
There’s some discussions going around in the household about changing our yearly Flying Legends experience from the regular sat-sun attendance to friday-saturday instead. I read here there’s an increase in tickets for friday?
Is it worth it doing it like that? I am one of those who would like to catch as much as the action as possible, as it’s my only airshow per year. However, it looks like I have to give in to leaving for home on sunday this year.
Any takers? What’s the negatives and the positives?
No sitting on the hard shoulder of M11 (endlessly), or half an hours walk from where you finally parked the car, to the aeroplanes, no step ladders, or fast food outlets stinking the place out with burnt onions, or over zealous comentary, right in your ear, because thats the only place theres a space (funny that) and reduced admission price i.e standard entry price; (free for children) all you do get is a leisurely day of A/C flying in, and air testing the resident ones…..the sheer hell of it, I don’t think I could go through all that again!
An excellent documentary, showing just how dangerous flying in a Zeppelin was.
Sadly it would appear that following an extended stay in a Jap PoW camp, Lady Drummond Hay died in 1946; anyone know what the circumstances were, that led to her incarceration?
Well, he has certainly shattered my illusions. . . . . I assumed that was a current photo on his avatar (if that`s what its called?)
Pete
To be fair I recently watched the PoC DVD, and I’d say it’s a fair likeness…..
being in Singapore at the wrong time?
Well I guessed it was being somewhere at the wrong time…..
I like talking, it’s a hell of a lot easier than doing; so while I’m talking, good luck to those who invest their time and money in doing.
Even if it was recovered and went to a museum in NI, who’s to say that it would stay there, it’s value will not diminish with age, and one $pitfire buys quite a lot of other planes, buildings etc etc.
I chopped my way through the middle of a Buccaneer, with a hammer and chisel,; does that count?
I’m now able to offer this service to all owners of historic A/C……..just PM me your details and A/C location…….
Thats how they do it, as long as they save the important bits it is far cheaper to buy new bricks than to try and save the existing ones.
Does that make it a sort of data plate restoration?
Anyone seen Mega Movers on Nat Geo (or similar) in the states they moved a brick built town hall in its entirety, that was huge by comparison, this is just laziness (fueled by greed), on the side of the contractors and ignorance on the side of the RAF museum; so no change there……
I seem to recall that the speed spitfire never attempted the record; it did however have something like 30 coats of paint to help streamlining!
All I can offer is this
The Stipa Caproni (ok so this photo is of a replica)
An interesting and novel design, where the pilot and co-pilot/ passenger provide the vertical stabilization……
“An absolute disgrace from start to finish”
Yep, that’s our Govt…….
“letters “M” and “S” etc have all been painted with luminous paint. Take sensible precautions”.

There is still a huge amount of unregistered land in this country, and so the owners can be untraceable.
Many thanks to Aero Legends for a superb show Saturday, we were there all three days, but at least Saturday was summer……. met a very nice lady from Flypast, and happened to mention what a sh1t show this forum now was, she promised to pass on my thoughts.
