Like the majority of posters I would prefer to see the Wellington painted in the camo that it wore when it left the factory, and indeed no unit markings would be historically correct for this machine which did not see frontline service.
Silver training colours have little or no relevence when the purpose of this airframe is to educate and inspire the museum visitors, the majority of whom will be children. Lets hope authenticity prevails with the exterior restored to as built ex-factory camo!

Duxford´s Mosquito and Hendons TT5 are absolutely magnificent restored in silver, but the Wellington is unique outside of Brooklands and has more important history to represent

Yes please QP to the serial numbers of all of your photos shown here, there will be hundreds of folks looking at them in the coming months and serials make connections with memories!
Great stuff to see, this is a thread which will last forever so its great to keep a steady flow of pix rather than posting all at once because most of us enjoy visiting the forum daily for 30-60 minutes:)

Great to see these, especially the Vulcan in white and scrapped long before the other B2s – was it damaged by design or accident?
Its also great to look at the piles around the Auster to see if anything else can be identified.
More please, for this is my favourite long running thread!

Fascinating photo of CW-L in India – with the 3 bladed prop it looks like it may be a bitsa although being displayed like this makes me wonder if this plane had a significant war record perhaps from Burma to justify its selection for this position of honour? Does Mark 12 know the identity of this Spit and how long it survived?

Google is the only search engine that really works well for niche interests like warbird aviation. MSN, AOL and most others are poor finders of specialist info. Yahoo is reasonable half the time if Google isnt available.
And the advise already given, use as few key words as possible to focus on your question makes a big difference to the relevance of the information retrieved.
Accuracy is not always 100% which is where specialist knowledge like this forum comes in when the stakes are high enough to need professional or semi-professional advice!

Are there any remnants of this Sea Hornet in Iceland or was it burned?
Is there a picture to share with the forum?

Brilliant idea, and of course he must know that all his donations will be enlarged given his high level income tax status!

I know a girl who is one of those paid professional in-the-street-sign-up-for-monthly-donations and she is paid £11 per hour before tax to get Greenpeace a steady income!
Interesting to read that its HLF that has imposed the current bloated admin payroll on XH558. As more and more potential doners find out that their money is all being spent paying for Pleming and co instead of paying for needed work on XH558 their desire to donate will evaporate just like mine has……………

I like it,and these photos online are far more entertaining than seeing the same lot stacked behind the museum hanger.

Excellent photos, I am very grateful that they have survived the passage of time and that somebody wanted to share them:). I wonder if any of the Mosquitos backing onto the road are amongst the survivors today…..at least one has a TE xxx serial instead of NZxxxx like 2 survivors

    Billericay Dickie?

    I’ll get me coat…

Actually, before I do, I have a feeling that the bus is the same model in the famous bus-in-bomb-crater photo. Am I right, or am I just spending too long looking at the back end of a bus?

    Adrian

3 of those 1940 RTs were badly damaged by bombs but I have never seen any photos of them in craters!
I was at Duxford on the 26th because I like warbirds and buses. All the rain in the afternoon put hundreds of wet anoraks into the American museum:p
The market is excellent, some of the dealers offered huge discounts on new boxed Corgi aviation models, I was very tempted but refrained from paying a mere 20 sovs for an Israeli pair of Mustang and Mosquito. Book bargains from the estates of deceased enthusiasts are very much in evidence at this annual end of season market so I go with plenty of green each year……..

I wonder if there is any discoloured or otherwise oddly marked panel visible on the middle L14 seen in 3/4 rear view which can positively be matched to LMK or alternatively prove that it is not LMK in this photo? I wonder if Polish LOT experts are aware of any events prior to the invasion which would require 3 LOT L14s to all be ready to depart Kastrup, Copenhagen at the same time on the same day? This appears to be departure hardstanding rather than arrivals…………..

The only Spitfires in the album were these MkIX flying overhead -probably RDAF? Typhoons have squadron codes SK-*
