Im fairly new to this forum stuff, so thought i’d get in on this tread.

Here I am on the flight deck of the first ever Boeing 747 to land at Exeter International Airport. It was a 747-200 of EAL European Air Charter, and was due to be stored long term at EXT. It ended up staying for only a few weeks, before heading apparantly to the US. It is proof that EXT has the ability to handle long haul movements – As long as they can travel empty and with minimum fuel !!! LOL !!! Still, a big thing, for a relatively small airport.

    Quote from EGNM:
“Mootings here in CDG were that the service was doing so well it was shortly to go to 3x daily. Kinda contradicts the above?”

Didnt think Flybe had the slots to do that? Thought we only could do 2x daily due to Flybe pulling out of operating on Air France’s behalf from LHR?

The main bulk of traffic is South west folk going out for a few days and then coming back. There is very little in the way of passengers originating from CDG. This surely cant be good for any route, especially to/from a main European Hub. Flybe are apparantly having a big advertising campaign in Paris to attract the French this way, but are struggling to promote Exeter as a tourist destination in its own right. Its a lovely place, but the French seem to prefer Plymouth because of its harbour! (According to the local press)

Tell me about it – I think that we will see more flights to Chambery, Geneva, Toulouse, Salzburg/Innsbruck and basically mirror what Southampton offer. Yippee!!!
