On the subject of smaller shows, I certainly recommend Shoreham on the last weekend in August. I’ve been going since 1999. Good value for money, and always an interesting line-up.
It gets bigger and better each year, but still retains that ‘Garden Party’ atmosphere.

Steve, just wanted to check, have you received my email?
Question for either Vintage ATCO or Tcatco; purely out of interest, which pilots fly the Anson?
Dodge Bailey flew it on Saturday, and I know that Tony Haig-Thomas and George Ellis have taken the controls, but does anyone else fly it? Andy Sephton surely? Thanks in advance.
I was there too! Glad I went, looked rather dodgy earlier in the day, didn’t it Moggy? 🙂
For those who weren’t there, weather was good during the flying itself (pretty fab at the end), apart from a shower that briefly halted proceedings soon after 7.
Excellent displays form all concerned, especially Anson, Sptfire, Hurricane, Lysander, Gladiator and Chipmunk (Moggy, I believe the pilot was Peter Cross, who also flew the Hermes Moth), plus good to have a bit of barnstorming with the Tiger Moth, DH60X and two Maggies.
Only the Sopwith Pup and Triplane failed to display (due to the wind) and of course the weather put paid to the visiting participants, but overall yet another enjoyable Shuttleworth show.
I certainly want to see her fly this year too! 🙂
I know she’s booked to appear at Southend, Coventry, Kemble, Zeltweg, RIAT (static) and Elvington, but hopefully DHA will have a full listing up soon.
Here it is, third post down:

I’ve seen a photo of it in the new Red Bull scheme on another forum… 🙂
Hmm, I think you’ll find it’s actually last year’s list up on the TFC site. 🙂
Probably won’t be long before the first participants are added.
Cheers Glenn. Nice pics by the way.
Do you have a list of appearaences by the Spit and Hurricane this year by any chance?
Yes, I’ve seen that woman at about every Shuttleworth show I’ve been to. I’m glad it’s not just me who’s noticed her! I wonder if she knows she’s famous? 🙂
Well, I’ve heard a certain ex-commentator talk about viagra and transvestites! 🙂
I did read on another forum that Roger Hoefling was listed in the programme as commentator. What with Blake and Ogilvy both having hung up their microphines, Hoefling would be a perfect replacement, as he was a regular at Old Warden for many years.
I enjoyed the show on Sunday. It was a nice, low key way to open the season. Highlights for me were:
Breitling Fighters
Matadors
Stephen Grey in the P47
Frank Chapman in the Gladiator
John Romain in the Blenheim (along with Mike Collet in the Anson)
The Storch
The Operation TELIC marked Tornado
All the regular RAF displays, but in particular the XV Sqn GR4, Hawk and Tucano.
Pembroke and T28
Sorry, Alexis, I don’t know. I was just told in the email that the P40 and Swordfish won’t be taking part. Your best bet would be to email OFMC and ask them.
Right, I have good and bad news about Duxford. The bad news is that the Swordfish and OFMC Kittyhawk aren’t appearing, but the good news is the Pembroke and T28 are displaying. This is an updated flying list I was sent from the museum:
Falcons
Hawk
T28
Storch and Cub
Tornado GR4
Blenheim and Anson
Tucano
B17 and P47
Gladiator
Jaguar
The Matadors
Pembroke
Breitling Spitfire, Mustang and Corsair
Lancaster and Tornado GR4 flypast
Lancaster
Harrier GR7
Don’t worry mate, no eggbeaters on the programme.:)
It’s apparently going to run from 1:45 to 4:45:
RAF Falcons
Belgian F16 (still listed on the IWM site, so you never know…)
Storch and Cub
Tornado GR4
Blenheim and Anson
Tucano
Memphis Belle Tribute: B17 and P47
Jaguar
Swordfish and Gladiator
Hawk
The Matadors
Dambusters 617 Squadron Tribute:

Tornado GR4 and Lancaster

Harrier GR7
