The IWM have kindly emailed me a provisional flying programme for Sunday (as of 16th April) which I can post up here if anyone wants me to.
Just found out from the IWM that the F16 and Canberra are no longer taking part. 🙁
Just to let those going to Duxford know, that it is planned to fly the Lancaster in formation with a Tornado GR4 at the show, to celebrate 617 Squadron past and present.
Incidentally, the Canberra’s appearence is in part, because 617 operated the type during the Fifties.
Here’s a list of museum aircraft appearing at the show, to give you an idea of the logistics involved. Sorry if I have missed any:
Lynx and Whirlwind – British Rotorcraft Museum
SR53, Meteor Prototype, Pioneer, Be2b and Cygnet – RAF Museum
Bleriot, P1127, Camel, Avro 504 and Fury Replicas – Brooklands
Wright Flyer Replica, Be2C, Avro 504 and Blackburn Mercury – Elvington
Just a thought, but might these museum exhbits be kept inside a tent/marquee over the weekend to shield them from the weather?
I’ve just seen the latest additions to RIAT. I must say, it looks like it’ll be a cracker, definately making up for last year.
Goodies include: French Navy Rafale and Hawkeye, Swiss Mirage III, Slovak MiG 29, B1B (with all bar the Hawkeye flying), and the possiblity of Eurofighter, Concorde and the Russian Knights all attending.
Plus, the 100 Years of Flight static is shaping up nicely with a large number of exhbits from various museums (Hendon, Cosford, Elvington, Weston Super Mare etc) on the list.
Lincolnshire Lancaster Association has a list of dates for this year up on their site:
Philo – I believe a Pitts, T28 and Hunter XF516 flown by Brian Grant are also appearing at Abingdon.
As for myself, I’ll be at Duxford on Sunday.
Yes, Biggin should be particularly good this year. I’m not sure if you know, but a replica of the Wright Flyer has been added to the flying list (taken from their website):

I also read on another site that they intend to formate the Firefly with the F86 Sabre to commemerate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. Plus the Blenheim and Connie may appear, while the Dutch, Americans and Belgians have been invited. As well as that, more aircrat for the 100 years of flight theme are still to be confirmed eg. World War One types and some classic jets.
I take it you’re referring to the September show. Best keep an eye on their website over the coming months, although, oddly, the current airshow bookings have disappeared from the TFC website.
The P47 is the only TFC participation in May.
Remember the Sea Fury and Firefly too, plus there will hopefully be loads more added too.
On the subject of Duxford airshows, Military Airshows in the UK has a current list of aircraft for the September event:
Royal Air Force:
Red Arrows (9x BAe Hawk T.1A) – RAFAT

Posted this up before, but for those who missed it, here’s the current participants for the show:

Reg – Your best bet would be emailing their PR Assistant. Address can be found here:
As for myself, I like most things, but in particular Warbirds and Classic Jets. Quite like modern stuff, but I’ll echo DHFan’s comments about too many F16s (although the Dutch one is superb and the Danish guy over the past few years has been amazing; he needs to be put in a straight jacket!). I much prefer Hornets, Gripens, Su27s and Mig 29s myself.
Helicopters aren’t really my thing, except for Dennis Kenyon and the Czech Hinds. My brother had a flight in a Jetranger at Shoreham last year and loved it. Rather him than me!
Also, DHfan, never been to Waddington (will hopefully go either this year or next), but have read comments elsewhere which state that it’s the ‘second best airshow in the country after RIAT.’ Well, they certainly pulled off a coup with the Israeli F15I in 2001, didn’t they?
Ant – It’s the City Airport Funday on 5th July. It includes a varied flying display mainly featuring warbirds and aerobatic aircraft. I’m planning on going for the first time this year.
To give you a flavour, last year’s event featured such items as:
Rob Davies’ P51 and Havard
Carolyn Grace in her Spitfire
James Pittock’s Me108
Tom Moloney’s Strikemaster
Utterly Butterlys
Turbulent Team
Pete Kynsey’s Cosmic Wind
Richard Pickin’s Cap 232
Anna Walker’s Jungmann
Tony Richard’s Pitts Special
plus a couple of para. teams
I believe there is also a model aircraft display from the Thamesmead Model Club.
Cheers Damien. Will Jonathon be displaying anything this year? i.e. the other Delta Hunters for instance.
