Agree, one must always remember that there is a difference between
1. Anti-judaΓ―sm. Like in medieval Europe. The Christians considerd the Jewish religion to be a threat to her own existance.
“The Jews have no right to live here as Jews”
Solution: become christian
2. Anti-semitism. Created in the 19th century. Being jewish was more than just a religion, it was a race (Darwinism)
“The Jews have no right to live here”
Solution: try to get rid of them (to another country).
3. Judeocide. Hitlers answer in the 20th century.
“The Jews have no right to live”
Solution = EndlΓΆsung.
If you don’t keep these 3 forms seperated, you are actually denying the Holocaust as something unique which should never happen again. If an Israeli today claims that European criticism towards Israels current politics= anti-semitism, than he’s actually completing Hitlers work, because he’s not showing respect to the 6 millions of casualties in the camps of Birkenau, Treblinka …
Anti-semitism should be defined more correctly, otherwise there will be abuse. Both from the neonazi’s AND the zionists. I am for example against zionism, the believe that Israel should expand more. But I don’t consider myself to be an anti-semite. I’m not saying anti-semitism does not exist anymore today, but not in the same way as pre-WWII. Anti-semitism was a form of jealousy towards the more wealthy Jews, today, de standards of living are higher in the EU than in Israel so there’s no sence of jealousy anymore. Anti-semites are just a marginal group today, most of the times they are not even considered serious anymore by extreme right.
The double post has been deleted.
Now Sauron, if you want to express anopinion, you are very welcome, but just posting a link without argumenting it in another way than a very laconic sentence tremendously looks like an attempt to flame. This will not be tolerated. Be warned.
Don’t worry Frank, we can handle him ;). The fact that he doesn’t make an argument only makes it easier for us …
Two times? Have you been drinking too much? π
No, what happened here is a disgrace. I hope the soldiers who did this will be brought to justice. It sickens me to see these peacekeepers making abuse of a totally desorientated population in such a cruel way! This story is no different than the cruelties in the Abu Grabi prison in Iraq, Sauron.
The UN doesn’t have soldiers of it’s own, this has little to do with the United Nations ORGANISATION. Blue berets consist of national soldiers. When Belgian soldiers commited sex crimes in the Congo years ago, they were brought to a Belgian military tribunal. The UNO does a great job, still. There will always be corruption, bad leadership. But does that mean it should cease to exist. The United States also exists after Watergate, Irangate and Zippergate.
Well it made headline over here. As a matter of fact it was pointed on the news and in editorials that the Palestinian reaction had been misrepresented unfairly. I am surprised, however, that you state that the U.S. is no different that the European press given that my impression is that most Europeans seem to believe their press is somehow less biased.
Sauron
Hell no, our press is as bad as yours. They are no less biased. We’ve got extreme left and extreme right editors trying to break into the gov’t coalition. One would expect state funded television to be neutral and fair, but they are even worse than commercial television. Instead of buying nice educational documentaries they like to use their tax money for “inside”-information. A couple of yours ago we even had one journalists who tried to get to Dutroux, childraper and number one enemy of the state. We’ve got good and bad press as well. Normally, CNN is rather neutral (unlike biased Fox News), but I just don’t like watching them. There’s on camera in the studio, another one in Iraq and those textbars are way too cunfsuing.
Given that the world originally accepted story as true, you would think that there would be a great deal of interest in whether or not the whole thing was staged.
The reluctance is understandable if you swallowed it whole in the first place. I am guessing the degree of interest in the “truth” would be much greater if this story was about Isaeli or American fakery.
Sauron
Ohh come one   the story about the 9/11 palestinians, did it make headlines? No, not at all. Press doesn’t like telling the truth after such a blow. Try to understand european press is no different fthan american press.
BTW, Rosenthal. Wasn’t he the ideology-guy from a certain party which was quite succesful in the 1930’s in Germany? π
Well, personally I think the environment is trying to recover at this moment. Since the eighties people are actually concerned about nature. Even conservatives and liberals now admit we can’t pollute forever. It’s not like our generation is solely responsible for the current state of the environment. People is exploiting nature for more than 500 years (on an industrial scale I mean). I am all but a card holding member of the Green Party ;), however, a good education and gov’t campaigns can inform people how to save nature. For this the Green activisits did a great job. I know in the US or Australia environmentalists are not very popular, but in densily populated areas like the low lands or Germany they are necessairy. I do enjoy jogging in the woods now and then, I would hate to see every tree cut down in favour of a new dogfood plant or extra runway. Now that doesn’t mean I need to hug every tree while reading beatnic poems and play on my bongo’s π …
There is a real possibility that the whole event was staged by the Palestinians and assisted members of the press for a public who swallowed it whole.
Sauron
Sauron, remember 9/11. CNN showed images of Palestinian People “celebrating” the events.  Media only cares about headlines, wheter it is France2, CNN or Radio Kempisch Boeregat … So stop bitching about it.
Hey, for christ’s sake, it’s not a flame war here, ok? Nobody has the right to lock a thread as long as there is no racist crap in it. I think everyone sticked to the rules. π‘ I’m not going to post on this thread anymore, because I said what I need to say. I’m not a flamer, just because some of you don’t like what I say doesn’t mean it should be deleted or locked. π‘ π‘. I didn’t start this thread, all right?
Gee, anti-Flood messages? I have no personal problems with you, all right? I just don’t understand why as a moderator you start threads like this, knowing the possible outcome. If you wanted to know why CM deleted his threads, you could have send a PM to him. Your job is to make sure no-one is posting racist crap on the forum, your job is not to keep the forum “going”. Ofcourse you may have your say on everything and you can post whatever you wish, besides personal attacks. Look, if I would have posted this thread on CM most likely you would have deleted it from the start.
Which part of his moderation do you question?
Look – I could should show you forums where the moderators routinely delete and edit posts that they disagree with and posts by users that they, or the site owners, simply don’t happen to like.
Nothing wrong with Flood’s moderation that I can see.
Frankly, I begin to wonder just how spontaneous this sudden questioning of Flood’s moderation actually is.
This is not Flood’s personal forum to begin with. If he starts his own website than he can say whatever he wishes and ban whoever he wishes. But he doesn’t “own” the AFM-forum.
For once, I can guarantee you I’m not being spontaneous. I also don’t understand the negative reactions on my previous posts. Ohhh well, I shouldn’t get too envolved. It’s non of my business, I was just trying to be objective. It some people can’t accept a little criticism ….
Really π π So you could do a great job??? Back Off π π π Floods Cool π π π π Anna π π π :diablo:
I never said I would do a great job. I never applied to become moderator, and to be frankly, would never want to do that. I’m too spontaneous, sometimes ’emotional’ (not cry baby you know what I mean). I wouldn’t fit for this job. I also didn’t say Flood should stop being moderator, I just don’t think he, as a mod, should bring up topics like these which could become flam wars.
Apparently, I’m not the only one concerned with this, reading SteveYoung’s post. I don’t think my reaction was immature, the reason for this topic was. Simply because it was aimed at one person, CrazyMainer, and there was not really a subject. If you delete this topic now, it would be censorship. There is no flame war going on here at the moment, it’s just some criticism towards your job as mod, Flood. Don’t take it too personal, it still is a virtual forum so don’t see this as in insult.
Seems like very sensible . I don’t question Flood as a user, but as a moderator.
Being a moderator has its advantages…
Maybe you should take your job serious instead of using it to trigger flame wars.
π‘ π‘
Well, if CM decided it was the best to delete that thread than why not? On a number of occasions I also did that. It’s his decission. I don’t think Flood, being a moderator, you should have brought up this topic. You can’t be judge and prosecutor on the same forum.
