Yeah really are they still operational? Cool, than maybe o come back to jersey. VLM is nice to fly with because it’s very local and you don’t have to wait hours to get checked in.

The ones i flew from ofcourse

1. Brussels International (Zaventem)
2. Gatwick
3. Johannesburg
4. Zurich
5. Capetown
6. Heathrow
7. Frankfurt Main (old, ugly, and no accomodation)
8. Antwerp (Deurne) : practical for short flights but i wouldn’t like to wait too long over there.

Comparing the A-340 with the B767 is an embarresment for Airbus. You should at least compare the A-340 with the 777, because the 767 is a medium range airliner and both the A-340 and 777 are long range airliners.

South African Airways, no doubts. Their 747’s are very ôriginal painted. And yes Swissair does need some new colour schemes.
Have you seen the new Sabena colour shemes like used on the MD 11’s (not on the A340 – those are the old ones but they will be repainted if money is available). Virgin air also needs a fresh-up, because red is the colour of danger and that’s exactly what Virgin is. American Airlines also has nice colour shemes, the grey fuselage with blue-white-red is excellent.

My first flight from Antwerp to Londen in a VLM (now banckrupt) fokker 50. The plane was so old that i thought it could crash every second. But last week when i flew from Capetown to Joburg in a SAA 747 the pilot more or less was a cowboy. He descended way too fast, but i like it. This makes some extra fun during long flights. But the airlines i flew with more or less had a good reputation. Next time i’ll fly with North-Korean airways or Virgin 🙂

Yes the A340 is a wonderfull plane. But i think the MD-11 doesn’t have the honour that it deserves. When i flew to South-Africa in it, i was frightened that i wouldn’t have enough space. Especially if you have to fly 12 hours it’s very important to have a good seat. Unfortunately, i don’t have the financial luck to fly first or business class, so the plebs-class (economy) is very important to me. That’s why the MD-11 breaks the records. The Jumbo probably was much bigger, but when you sit in the aircraft the Douglas has so much more. Maybe B.A. thinks economy class doesn’t have to be comfortable, because we don’t have another choise. But Swissair understood that a good service and enough space only has advantages. I hoop next time i can fly again with swissair or with the MD-11 because it beats every other big company (if it still exists ofcourse).

About the airlines i flew with: the best are

1. Qualiflyer group (Swissair sabena) (in MD11 and A-340) : good service and food
2. South African Airways (747) : also good food
3. Lufthansa (747)
4. BA (747)

Food and drinks are very important i think, as that’s the only thing you can do during long flights

You should always respect other opinions. If Kabir says chinese jets are ugly than i have to agree with him in most of the cases (don’t say the J-8 and the A-6 are goodlooking).

I think you missunderstood the whole idea about forum. Some people can learn from it, others can give info.
And how do you mean we in the AFM forum: i never saw you on the AFM forum before. Yes it’s getting boring over there, but that’s because of guys like you. Smartasses who think they are so good, so great etc. This is no offence, sam, but guys like you make others who have good topics on the AFM forum run away (like biffbutkus and Puffadder).

I’m 17 myself, but don’t think you can impress me with your so called “mature” speech.

The biggest AFM hooligan is here kabir, hehe… unfortunnately, i came here to discuss something else but since i’m here, i can as well make some trouble 🙂

No, mine is and still is the F15E, best looking aircraft ever, followed by the F-16 (not the F16 B/D looks awful)and F22 (not the YF but the production line F22). The worst looking probably is -sorry- the lightning, the A-10 (but it sure has charisma) and the SU 25. Ofcourse all chinese jets aren’t ugly.
