Indeed, we are talking about Christian Europe, or at least those Christians who accepted the beliefs of “Cluny”. Many churches and guesthouses were build on the roads to Santiago, so that these thousands of pelgrims would be able to accomplish the journey … on foot. Because so many people from all over Europe different places visited Santiago from the 13th century on, we could actually consider this city as the “cultural capital of Europe” during the middle ages. At that time, Europe and Christianity was considered to be one, eventhough it would last untill 1492 before the reconquista would be completed thanks to Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castilia.

    Keltic,

I also know your place! During the middle ages, it was the most visited place in Europe. People from all over the continent came to visit Santiago De Compostella. I should really go there once, and I think western-Spain is a lot nicer than the Mediterranian coasts.

    Rabie,

Good post (second one in two days :D). You’re right, the EU should really try to persuade the British public, and not only the British but also the Belgians, Dutch, French, Germans, Spaniards and so on.

I don’t know who said that the US was based on the British culture. Well, here’s something for you. The American constitution was just a copy of the ideas of Montesqieu, an 18th century Frenchmen. The Auflkarung, started in France and the German territories, and have influenced the Anglo-Saxon world as well. Without this Aufklarung, we wouldn’t know democracy as it is known today.

    B – the axis Perle-Wolfie-Cheney.

A new president, one from the establishment (republican or democrat) would be a good thing for the foreign relations of the USA. Even if someone voted for the Republican Party, that doesn’t mean he actually voted for the n”neo-cons” who have taken hostage of the White house. Actually they should start their own political party, loose from the Republicans. Ofcourse they wouldn’t survive next elections.

    Hi, thanks for your replies.

Anyway, he suffers from a severe feever. He can’t move his head. Looks not too good. If things don’t get better in two days, we’ll have to get him back to Europe, though I don’t think they have a better health care for this disease over here.

Luckily it’s not malaria, because that was what the doctor thought at first.

Paying in Francs. Jesus, yeah, lets go back to the Middle Ages. Maybe we can even pay with chickens  For all people who live in the Eurozone, the Euro brought as closer to our neighbours. The Euro is easy, steady. I think its wonderfull that from now on we can pay from Portugal to Finland with the same currency. And boehoe our Kings head is not the notes. Well, they can still put his photo on biscuit–boxes.
