I suggest some of you go back to school.
A plane is built to meet specific specifications to engineering standards and the requirements set by someone (typically a customer).
So what if it was designed using metric or imperial. That has NO BEARING ON WEIGHT.My god this is so basic and you cant get your heads around this?
Its a UNIT OF MEASURE! If its need a hole drilled for something (as an example for making a spar lighter) they will drill the hole whatever size they can safely remove. It wont matter if its in CM or INCHES…
you’re almost right. But.. if there was a 1 inch hole what metric size drill should I use? 25 mm or 26 mm as there will be no drill 25,4 mm. Anyway. with 25 mm the plane will be heavier and with 26 mm it will be lighter.
Of course cm is used in the industry somewhere. If you buy floorboard you buy it in xxx cm length.

The “black” variation is almost certainly down to the use of an orthochromatic photographic emulsion – they lighten blues, darken reds, and record yellow as black. Quite commonly used as they could be processed under a red safelight, meaning you could see it develop and stop at the appropriate moment. The Hawker Tornado photo shows this effect perfectly on the roundel and fin flash.

That makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
