another Stark, AS-27
Picture from yesterday’s Independence Day parade in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Are those helos AW139s?
Yes, all 4 of them. Since when are they flying in the Turmenistan Air Force/Army?
What do you think of the Air Tractor AT-802U Coin?
Main disadvantage is the lack of sensors I guess. Although a small sensor turret is under the nose of course.
The only pic I have of a military version.
Check out UB-57 rocket pod! 😎 Also the An-32 style canopy on the port side.
The Russian and Ukraine An-72 can be armed with rocketpod under the wings and a gunpod on the lower right side of the fuselage, as can be seen on the pics. Never seen pics of armed An-72/74 of other countries.
Isnt the prodn of C-160 done decades ago?
Any opnions on the An-140? Nice looking aircraft but lacks a ramp; a strict no-no for mil use. A rival for the ATR series.
The CASA CN-235 and CN-295 are also pretty nice…is it better than the G-222?
You mean the C-27J as the original G.222/C-27A is almost a historical aircraft. 😉
The key consideration in rejecting the C-130 as a COD (and I’d imagine the later F-28 studies) is that once down they would effectively monopolise the flight deck until they could take off again.
Fokker seems to solved that problem:
The landing gear would be completely new, and the twoposition noseleg needed for catapult launches would also be used to tilt the aircraft tail-down for carrier storage.

Kenneth Wooster’s pages on the Hatwing project (P2Vs and AJs off carriers) are excellent

As well as RATO assisted takeoffs, touch and go practice landings on the Roosevelt were made by a P2V though never a full landing
Didn’t some airliners with better than average field capabilities get studied for the COD role (Boeing 727, Fairchild/Fokker F-28)?
Must be true. I remember a Fokker drawing of a F-28 in USN colours onboard a carrier. And found it
