Always looking for something different! Photo taken in 1952 in Texas. Italian Curtiss S2C-5 with a very strange roundel.
The ensign on the fin is Italian Navy one: 
The roundel looks like the one the French used in Indochina but with the Italian colors. 
Could it be that this is an ex French aircraft handed over to the Italians with a makeshift roundel added to it? :confused:
somewhere during WW2 the Russians added a white outline to their red star but before that it looked like this:
