I have almost completed a Me 109e main instrument panel, but still need a few bits:
1. Pitot warning light ( mounts below mag switch)
2. Gunsight plug ( mounts in centre of panel)
3. Prop pitch control unit
4. 700kmh airspeed indicator ( have 500 kmh ASI )
Happy to buy or trade – I have quite a few spare English and American instruments plus some Japanese.
Would appreciate any leads or contacts.
Thanks
Mike
SAFE Air disposed of both Argosies and all parts when flying operations ceased around 1990. The two ex SAFE Air airframes still survive but are no longer in SAFE ownership and neither has complete engines.
I have a pair of Walrus undercarriage legs to match – all we need now is fuselage, wings, tail and a few other assorted bits…..:D
Hi Ed,
Thanks very much for the data – it just goes to show how much work can be involved with what seems like a simple question.
Would gladly buy you a beer – come to Classic Fighters airshow at Omaka and I will buy you two ( or more)!
Have you tried Jay Wisler at warbird-parts.com . He has a lot of American aircraft parts – much more than is listed on his web site.
Thanks Tony. Do you have a sec/ref number for the horn?
If it is off the aircraft then I take it that the dome is already removed. All you need to do is split the hub halves by removing the nuts from all the hub half bolts and then knock the bolts through using a brass drift. With a bit of wriggling the hub halves will then separate and you will be left with the blades to just pull off the spider. No special tools needed.
The ex Pat Donovan PO2 is flying with the Shuttleworth Collection.

Definitely has 23EX props installed with the fine spline.
Thanks for all your replies. Stan – will give you a call tomorrow.
Avro 504 and Kawasaki Ki 61 “tony”. Unfortunately someone tried to clean up the Tony column and removed most of the original paint in the process.
Nothing like a bit of variety in a collection…….:)

“As the plate does not have the c/n no. am I right in assuming that it’s not a manufacturers plate but was fixed after the aircraft was preserved? The Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum refers to it as the Dove”
No – the plates were in the aircraft when they were retired from military service. I would suspect these plates have been in the aircraft since they were received new from de Havilland.
Agree that all literature ( including official) refers to the RNZAF aircraft as Devons due to military fit. The plate fitted by the main entry door on at least two aircraft ( NZ1805 and NZ1806) does however refer to the aircraft as Dove:

The second item is a cover plate from the back of a brake unit. The 3 small covers are to allow for checking brake shoe clearance. Not sure what type of aircraft as these are similar on a lot of brake units.
The bulge is for clearance on the rear part of the gun breech/receiver. It is on all models from the P40D to P40N. There are quite a few restored P-40 aircraft with no guns installed that have had a flat gun access panel installed with no bulge.
The bulge is not as pronounced as it seems in the photo above – the oil staining probably accentuates it.
