Just curious Ben, what exactly would you like to see happen? Because in the US religion has become very strong lately, but it really hasnt improved anything, if anything it just hides the bad people do. Humans are just animals on this earth trying to survive like any other animal, anyone who thinks there above that is living in a fantasy. Whether god exists or not, religion is an ingrained part of the human mind due to mans fear of the unknown. Modern religions reflect the changes of historical improvements in social order and allow people to be more self reliant and social reliant. But becoming “religious” has always been a waste, history proves that, even current world religions of christianity, buddism and hinduism teach that.
Well, first of all there’s a difference between the catholic and reformist churches. Though this might suprise you, catholicism is in all aspects more open and leaves more choises to individual thinking. I’m not saying this, a Jewish professor who taught me the basic principles of Jewish thinking. I don’t think it’s a “waste”. Sure, I don’t believe in all what the Bible says, but it’s an important literaty document (and for the Jews even a historical document). What I would like to see is people stop bashing the church as it’s the roots of all evil. They refer to the crusades, the nazi’s without any other historical background and conclude that the church must be evil, forgetting some minor details that it was most of the times Kings/Emperors that went on crusade for other reasons besides religion, that the RCC abolished slavery in the Middle Ages … Or the Church burned witches? Well, can’t say that for the entire world, but at least in the Netherlands it were the Spaniards who did this. Those witches/magicians were most of the times rebellious people who opposed the rule from Madrid for example.
And to say Religion is not important. Well let’s have a look at the “secular EU”, pretending it can build only on the pilars of our Ancient civilisation and enlightment, forgetting our Judeo-Christian values. Like it or not, the Judeo-Christian values have shaped Europe for more than 1000 years, and the French Revolution didn’t make an end to people believing, only made an end to the worldly politics of the RCC. The constitution failed, because the european leaders found religion in a 21Th century constitution backward.
Look, I don’t want the church and state melted together again. Ohh God no, I’m more of a christian humanist. I think Christianity can offer a social model which is an alternative to the individualist-liberal thinking and the cold world of socialism/marxism.

Actually *******s often had a great impact on history. In fact, some sources even suggest Moses was a *******, a son from Ramses. π
Jesus was a ******* too, you know. His father never came home from work, his mother was a 15-year old prostitute living together with an older man named joseph.
In Dutch “bastaard” does not have the offensive connotation.

Signs did scare you? Well, been to Amityville horror last week and though it was kind of clichΓ© I managed to spread popcorn all over the place :D.
The aliens in WotW looked like they were bought at a hollywood sale. I mean, come on, green fella’s with huge eyes, can’t you be a bit more original. Even for a porn film it would be unconvincing.

I bought the Ipod Shuffle some weeks ago. Wanted to buy the Mini-Ipod however since I use the MP3-player only to pratice sports (and not in the car) the shopowner advised me this one. It can last 4 hours without having to recharge it, and it beats expensive batteries!! If you only need it for sports like me I advise you to buy this one. I don’t need no extra options etc, neither do I need to have a zillion songs on it. It only costed about 120 euro’s or even less

I found the movie utter utter crap! Even more boring than signs :(! Gee, it looks like it was directed by kevin costner himself instead of spielberg!!
the movie was a cheap lazy-sunday-afternoon TV-drama with no plot. The dialogues were often boring. I was glad the movie was over so i could go for a drink and forget about it.
IMHO people, don’t watch the movie. I guess the original radio-play was brilliant, and I can imagine what reactions I provoked back in the 1930s. But even as a remake it sucked!
However, I can imagine people who are fond of the original book will like the movie. I guess I’m too young to really like it, I grew up with Independence day and other crappy movies, where dialogues were not important and special effects combined with (bad) humor are everything. Maybe if I looked at it differently, as a 19th century Modernist piece of “art” instead of another movie about aliens I might have “liked” it. However, that would be too snobbish on the other hand, as a movie has to be entertaining first and not just “cult”.

You are right ofcourse ashley. But people like Comet and Rob are part of the problem. our thoughts are with the victims, but we can not tolerate this kind of behaviour, not only on this forum but in society too!! I was shocked reading Comets and Robs remarks on a day like this. π‘

What are Amnesty International thinking, I wonder?
My thoughts are with the victims of this.
π‘ π‘ π‘ Again, cynical abuse of this tragic event. π‘
My brother is in london right now, in the financial district. however he’s fine but can’t return home due the traffic problems. We were worried though.
It really frustrates me that some individuals on this forum are more concerned with their crusade against all kinds of “tree hugging”-organisations than with the events and the people involved! I’m glad my bro is fine, could have been different. These people really sicken me!!! π‘ π‘ π‘ π‘ π‘ π‘ I’m not going to get too much involved however this remarks are of the lowest one can imagine. π‘ Even from you Comet, I expected some decency on a tragic day like this.

A tragic event has happened in London. However, we can not tolerate expressions like this. “The middle east” is not al quaida, there are also people living there. Very sad, unwise and cynical of you to use this tragic event to spread your racist comments instead of being concerned about the victims.
My thoughts to the family of the victims and the british people
