No, altough if you were on a high floor of the Great Southern Hotel you would get some views of aircraft on short finals, depending what runway was in use. If you drive however, there is a viewing area on the old airport road with excellent views of aircraft landing and taking off and also the apron.

    Hope this helps!

Just checked out the flybe website. Two new routes out of Galway, Galway to BHD from October 2006 and Galway to BHX from March 2007 altough theres nothing on the Galway airport website.

Interesting to see if Flybe will make it work out of Galway as apart from Aer Arann, no other airline thats tried Galway routes have made them work (Euromanx and Loganair tried and failed)

The BHX route may work, however Aer Arann used to fly Galway to BHX and dropped it. I think they ll struggle to fill a Dash 8 to BHD, cant see this route being viable but time will tell.

Good to see more routes out of Galway anyway, its a great little city! 😉

Great stuff im still glad there coming back to ncl means i can now use a decent airline to get to ireland!!

I think your mixing up Aer Arann with Aer Lingus mate. Aer Lingus are starting NCL to DUB and yeah its a much better choice than Ryanair if you can get a similar priced fare

Air Berlin might be better than Ryanair at service, not hard really! but for the last 3 years in a row they have made a loss, €60.1million in 2003, €0.8million in 2004 and €6.9m in 2005. Ryanairs bottom line profit was €306.7million for the last 12 months. I know who I d rather have shares with!

So I think the eminent irishman would be laughing at AB all the way to the bank with his millions!

    Some breaking news for you…

An American Airlines flight en-route to JFK from LHR had to make an emergency landing in Dublin this morning.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/5071636.stm

Can anyone confirm whether it has left DUB yet or not?

The AA flight arrived around 10am and left about 1130am once the engineers checked it over and realised the problem was the oven in the galley and not anything more serious. At the same time the diversion was taking place a fuel truck overturned on the ramp also!
Later that evening an Aer Lingus A320 burst a tyre on landing and had to be escorted to the gate by the Fire Service.

All in all a busy day at DUB for the emergency crews! :dev2:
