Yes, Peter, we are talking to Nanton. Nanton suggested that we go to Calgary and get copies of their drawings rather than getting copies of the Nanton set.
We are awaiting the cost from Calgary to copy everything and ship it to us.
Regarding propellors: there were three there today, two fixed pitch wood and one variable pitch with wooden blades, I suspect that it was not from an Anson unless it was a Mk V.
There is just not the enthusiasm to restore an Anson that there was to restore a Halifax! Progress is slow and the number of volunteers is significantly less.
In the case of NA 337 we were presented with a Halifax pilot’s cushion which was made for him by his mother, movie star Lilian Gish. So he obviously used a chest pack.
(Cees ref your earlier question regarding whether any of your parts were used in NA 337, Dave Ablett advise “not” as the parts had not reached us in time to be incorporated into the aircraft in time for the official unveiling.)
Hi Cees,
I thought it was, but I will ask Dave Ablett who was in charge of the engines, what the problem was if it was not used.

We searched the World for Hercules Mk XVI engines for the Halifax in case we needed to replace one, fortunately we were able to ‘sort’ the ones that were from the aircraft. We did discover one Mk XVI at the Smithsonian Museum with whom we started half-hearted negotiations. But they came to nothing, although they admitted that the engine did not mean too much to the Americans. The other potential source was SkySport Engineering, near Bedford, in England where they are building a Beau to fly. They seem to have collected all the correct parts but are not releasing any until they have proved they do not need them. Tim Moore asked us to stop our ‘shopping around’ activity as we were driving up the cost of authentic engines! Deryck
Hi Guys,
OK, I now seem to have located the Anson drawings! Nanton has a set which they obtained from George Ryning of the Calgary Museum. They are willing to give us copies, but suggest that we get copies from the originals held by Calgary. (Calgary had earlier auto-responded that they were to be away until the end of this week.)
My thanks to all who responded.
Deryck.
Hi Turretboy,
I do not know where it is alleged to be coming from. We, in the back shop, only hear about some of the stuff the front office is dreaming about. You may be right!

Hi Halibag-Phil, Can your pictures wait until April? I will not be back until then. If you need them earlier I can get one of the other guys (who enjoy winter) to shoot them for you. Remind me in April, if I do not get back to you.
Deryck
Hi MRP, I am waiting for the guy I need at Calgary to get back to me. It sure sounds like it might be the place to start.
Thanks
Deryck
Hi Peter,
Yes.

Hi Turretboy, Good shots! I am in Florida and have not been in the shop for a while, they seem to be moving along with the sorting out. The aircraft came from Wetaskiwin, I am not sure of the exact id. I can try to find out. We dismantled and packed up a Tutor for them and they shipped us the remains of the Anson. We have a Yukon sitting down in South America someplace and I hear rumours of a Tiger Moth and a Harvard, so we can use some more volunteers! Deryck
Hi Halibag Phil, There was no restriction on our taking any pictures of the interior when I was last there. The only restraint was the interior was not finished in time for the official “Unveiling”. (Let’s face it some of the exterior wasn’t either!) I have taken Press folks through the interior to shoot stuff, the only restriction was they were not to publish prior to the official unveiling. Final plans were talking about video cameras in the interior for folks to see the layouts. If there is anything particular you want let me know. Deryck
Thanks BarnOwl,
Looks like a late Mark, 19, 20 or 21, with metal wings. I have forwarded them to the shop.

Hi Aeronut,
This sounds promising, I will attempt to follow it up.
Thanks
Deryck
Hi Fouga,
Thanks for the suggestion, Greenwood is already working with us on this.
