A 200 series, not too much of a problem, but a 300 would be on the tight side. Also, the turning circle isn’t really big enough for a 777, unless you had a marshaller help the turn. The 747 is less restrictive than the T7. Seen BA T7’s in LTN.

The report is purely factual, and is the “Interim” report, gents. The “Real” fireworks will come out in the final report, trust me on that account. The fact that the crew were not required by procedures at Emirates, to independently enter the figures into the computer, shows poor set of procedures on EK’s part.
Also the slight fact that EK changed a swathe of procedures (on all fleets) after the accident, is in my books an admission that something on their part was at fault.
Emirates resigned (forced) the pilots to leave their jobs, which wouldn’t happen in the real world!
Always easy to blame the pilots, eh!

Not gonna happen, at least in the short term. Maybe when JXB opens, maybe.

T5, perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself. I fly for EK, and I can tell you that there is a LOT of journalistic waffle in the aforementioned “news” item.
The guys made a mistake for sure, we as humans will always make mistakes, this is undeniable. Theirs was a rather an big one. Why did these highly experienced indiviuals make these errors? EK has changed their procedures since, is that an admission of fault within their procedures, I would say absolutely it is. Perhaps the training was at fault, or should I say lack of it!!!
The investigation should be completed by the competent authorities first(CASA), before any disciplinary procedures are taken. Instead EK management rule by fear, able to ruin a families lives, before they have any idea as to why the incident took place!
It was a close call, but most pilots I know at EK fear it will happen at EK, unless one local idoit in flt ops resigns, or is given the boot.

Having operated into GIB many times, there is no doubt that wind condtions can get exciting, particularly with south westerlies, southerlies and south easterlies.
The rotor effect of south westerlies give on short finals a tailwind, with a down draught, rapidly turning into up draught with headwind.
The dancing water on short finals for the easterly runway, after a nice curved visual approach, is amusing….
Operate within established tolerances, as per charts and you should be fine.
Now the only thing dangerous about JFK, is the controllers, rudest in the world bar none. Even our American cousins thing JFK is a weird place.

I think Peter is referring to the Blue smoke, this is more indicative of engine oil being burn’t. Have a look at videos of XM655 and XL426, then compare with XH558, completely different colour smoke.
The smoke is coming probably out of an oil breather, we get it on RR Trents. Probably not helped by periods of inactivity, through no fault of the various groups.
The engines of the Vulcan era, do produce more black smoke, due to inefficiencies in fuel being burn’t, compared to modern engines, which have a more efficient and cleaner burn.

Cloudmaster dude. Thanks for the e-mail, and congrats to G-APSA 😀
Didn’t she have a wee while in store in Sanaa in the Yemen after service with Yemenia?? I saw the remains a couple of years back of the other Six, that is still there.
Hope to see the Beastie soon.

If you have 100 pax on a 767-200, you do not need as many exit doors, that is a fact. Therefore sealing up the excess overwing doors, would be a maintenance saving. The UK CAA do oversee and approve such mods. Its the JAA in Europe by the way.

I think you will find that SA is in fine condition. I know the Mr Firth personally, and know absolutely if he had any doubt regards the airworthiness, he would not get in it!
Maybe your memory Mondariz is hazy, as you may have worked on one of those Electras they had. Many of which have been scrapped.I would suggest retracting your allegations, for they are nothing more than that.

Me thinks Mr Cloudmaster knows more than he is letting on :diablo:
