Some suggestion elsewhere that the flights will be operated by XL
This is correct. Jet2 has purchased seats on the XL aircraft to test the water so to speak.
When I went through LPA last summer, they played soothing music in the terminal which I thought quite a good idea. They only played it in the queuing areas such as check-in and security. Once in the departure lounge there was no music. It seemed to work quite well. I find that the check-in areas can get quite noisy and it did appear to calm peoples nerves.
Saw this on the local news today, anyone care to speculate…?

Happens at most airports at some stage particularly with ‘HEAVY’ departures. The groundsmen will have patched it up with a quick setting temporary surface which will suffice until it is resurfaced properly at a later stage.
I read what you wrote perfectly the first time, it doesn’t change the fact that spectuating an airline may lease an aircraft that is years from entering comercial service is a bit daft when we don’t even know for certain whether they will get 767’s yet!
Paul
There is absolutely no harm in speculating PMN, you talk like you own the bleeding airline! Oh and you spelled speculating and commercial wrong!
Thomsonfly have been on this slippery slope for sometime but ha ho they are a low cost airline now. I Have to say every time I see the crews at work, they spend much of their time ranting on about how cr@p their company is now. I’m afraid the company are no longer the big fish in the little pond they once were.
The airport did a research on it with the general public two years ago, don’t think there was enough demand.
Well over 200.000 passengers each year make the trek across the Pennines to Manchester from the West Yorkshire region, so there is no reason why LBA shouldn’t have it’s own service to New York.
The first airline to operate the route will do well. I made the same quote about the first loco to use LBA and that seems to have been proved right.
LBA will eventually get it’s own service to New York. I think the problems we have at the moment with lack of terminal facilities such as adequate check-in space and air-bridges will inevitably contribute to the airlines decision whether or not to fly to LBA.
So far so good, with 2 new winter routes from LBA with Jet2 (Palma & Las Palmas) I suspect that they haven’t finished there. I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks when we will hopefully see a couple more new flights added.
You really must learn what an opinion is, LBAspy.

Paul, I think I should be throwing that comment back at you.
I’ll leave it at that before this also develops into “childish” debate.
I never said or even implied it didn’t work as advertising, I said I was disappointed they’d lower themselves to employing the same childish tactics as Mr O’Leary, and it is extremely childish. It’s the kind of petty behaviour you expect to see or hear in the playground. Of course it gets the airline attention, but I’m fairly sure I’m not alone in thinking there must be better ways of advertising than bringing your company down to this. I don’t think it does anything positive whatsoever for JET2’s image. Quite the reverse in fact, in my opinion of course.
Paul
Not Childish – Quite Clever!!
Lighten up. I don’t think it’s that bad. It wasn’t in good taste I agree, but I certainly don’t think it’s childish, but more likely a good business move. During the french strikes and the invasion of the runway at one of the french airports, Mr Meeson used a picture of frogs with a slogan such as “get back to work you lazy frogs”. Immediately, he gained free publicity including several minutes on national television and in all the main newspapers and radio stations. Believe me this was certainly not a silly move. At the time of that press release, Jet2 was largely unheard of in the South and all of a sudden, this little concern was being noticed. Likewise, it is proven that Mr O’Leary’s little games are equally as effective. One example of this is when MI5 undercovered a plot to blow up aircraft using liquids. Mr O’Leary went against broad opinion with a major attack on MI5 and the Government. Again Mr O’Leary gained free publicity and in turn extra bums on seats.
Yes, this is really sad news that Ryainair have decided to drop the route but yet again, if Ryanair can’t make the flight work then no airline can.:(
“CRYANAIR” will probably launch a scaithing attact on Jet2 after this one. I don’t think O’Leary will let Jet2 get away with this.
Well i wonder how long it would take Shaheen to be banned by the E.U, its very dodgy having an unknown carrier doing such flights, it would be safer if a ME carrier did it.
You would normally regard PIA as the safest option so I don’t have much faith in the safety of Shaheen.
Doubt it will ever take off anyway.
Hold only. There is a limit to how much ‘compressed’ air we can carry on board. The average person need not worry as it is quite a lot. Have a good holiday!
Lol, ‘the no landing fees airline’. At least Durham Tees Valley can make some money from the carparks there!
People are off loaded on a frequent basis for all kinds of reasons. Just because these men were asian, people jump on the bandwagon to call it racist.
I would hope that if I were on a flight and someone of any colour or creed was acting suspiciously, the cabin crew and the pilots would take the appropriate action. On the otherhand, is it also possible that the two men in question, took it upon their selves to play a sick practical joke?
I would have to say, i’m sticking with the captains decision on this. He is professional and I would hope that he made a professional decision.
