    Still questions!

Thanks for the responses, Lossiemouth is still within reach so I will be prepared to make the longer journey, when and if the Leuchars show transfers to the northern base. The question still remains though;-……next year, 2013, or 2014?, and also retaining its Sept slot?.

    Other questions remaining are:-
    1. What is the cost of transferring the Typhoons in the proposed move to Lossiemouth?
    2. Why was the better location of Leuchars for the Typhoons role, and the recommendation
made at the highest level in the RAF, (for the retention of RAF Leuchars), ignored?
    3. Why the now departed Liam Fox did not visit RAF Leuchars to explain his decision?, and
can his new replacement reverse that decision?
Now that last one is definetly a long shot!
    Best regards, Gerry R.

    Hermes and Ark Royal

Absolutely superb films, the lead carrier in the first film looks like Ark Royal before Phantomisation, mid to late sixties?, the buccaneer take off in the second film is awesome, thanks,:)

    780 Sqn FAA

    Pagen01,
Yes, only to back your assumption, but I am curious to know was 780 Sqn FAA the number of the unit at Gosport?, Graham has inadvertently started another discussion within his original light hearted post it would seem!.

    RN Lancasters

    Graham,
Is it possibly the Lancaster?, three examples were on the strength of the Air Torpedo Development Unit (ATDU) at HMS Siskin Gosport in the early fifties, the examples being:- PP 786, PA 778, and PA 334 all with RN titles. There were also Lincolns operating from Gosport in the same period, but I believe they were an RAF unit, Torpedo Training Unit (TTU).

    Vulcan Display Finale

You will still experience the Olympus howl during 558’s display. Its display on the Saturday at RIAT Fairford the delta performed a spiral climb out, very spectacular, hopefully this is repeated at Leuchars. (The RIAT Sunday display was performed with a lower cloud base, and possibly why the climb out was not repeated,……hope we are lucky!.

Yes China airlines, not Air China

    Avro Avian,
Thanks for that info, yes it was China airlines (Taiwan) not Air China, I stand corrected, the local enthusiasts did say the former, I made the mistake, your piece was of much intertest though, thanks again.

    747 hulk at Kai Tak

    Threespool,
The 747 fuselage was the remains of the Air China one, that ended up nose down in Kowloon Bay having ran out of runway!, I believe its touchdown point was too far down runway 13, this incident happened about 18 months before my visit, I had confirmation from the local enthusiasts about this hulk and its former identity, they also said Haeco was involved in parting it out.

    Cosford Lincoln, haunted?

    AMB and Peter,
I did many a training course at RAF Cosford, every time a discussion always arose about the haunted Lincoln, it was backed up by the permanent staff at the station, in the end we were beginning to believe them!.
