The offer was also in Airliner World, so the post could have stayed where it was !!!

Has Geoff Wellum died as well? Don’t remember seeing that notice.
I am not sure on what grounds they could bear any blame at all. If you choose to stand in a field or pathway adjacent you do so entirely at your own risk, surely?
But it would appear that the organisers have identified where the potential put down areas are (the naughty field at Duxford ?) and are not closing that area on the grounds of safety (ie paying a farmer to close his field to anyone coming on their land, cos he won’t do it for free). They know the risks involved but aren’t proactive in policing it
If you were hit by a downed plane, in a field at the end of the display line and you weren’t made aware that it was a dangerous area, I suppose you could claim negligence on their part for knowing but not telling you.
And if you don’t want anyone freeloading the airshow, don’t put planes in the sky. As soon as it goes above the fence line, people will look at it and photograph it. said with tongue in cheek. The best way in my view is to make the stuff inside the fence more interesting than just sitting on a grass verge outside
My 2p worth
How many T.G style ‘set ups’ were used. I started to wonder…
The missing speedboat, the glider flying along the coast instead of out to sea,
the good weather ‘next morning’ the kids who found the glider…??I wonder if they constructed a few indentical gliders, in case it was trodden on, or some other mishap. I would have done, with all the production crew, helicopter etc all on standby costing a fortune.
James is A GENUINE enthusiast, and it shows.
As mentioned in the show, so may be taken with a pinch of salt:-
The speed boat was in the harbour, but on a different slip way
The gliders autopilot system was ‘untested in the glider’ but other users had said it would work, so it is possible it screwed up
The weather in the UK is changable day to day so it is possible
Only 2 gliders were made, big wing before changes (and used as the test for the first drop) and the actual one.
Helicopters and crew were only for 1 day. The extra day with the good weather was overtime ‘1 helicopter was due for a wedding run’
The only iffy 1 I can think of is the kids finding the glider at the end, as someone had already marked out the runway so there should have been people already on the island when it was due to land
It was an excellent show and shows James at his best

From a purely selfish point of view I would like the following:-
Good exit from the car park. The getting in isn’t a problem as most people turn up at an airshow between 0800 and 1300. But getting out….90% will go at once. You can have the best show going, but if the only thing people on the forums are complain about is the getting out, then you’ve lost !!!
A good selection of aircraft. Duford has Legends, RIAT and Waddington the fast noisy stuff, Abingdon the ‘first’ of the year. What would be your Unique Selling Point ? I don’t like the idea of just 1 major headline act, especially as some go U/S on the day (again, it’s beyond your control but people don’t see it that way)
Ticket pricing. Personally I pay what I think is about right for the types of aircraft on show. I wouldn’t pay RIAT prices for an Abingdon ticket, but overall I think that most airshows have got their prices right.

Does anyone know if “The Startled Saint” still exists at West Malling?
I believe at one time it was within the boundary of the airfield and the pub sign depicted St Leonard being buzzed by Spitfires!
Sorry mate, it is now a house. Still looks like a pub, but it’s been converted

My understanding about clearing the carpark scenario is as follows:-
If the car park isn’t cleared from snow, then anyone walking on can see there is a risk and has to take that risk into consideration if they wish to walk across.
If the car park has been cleared, then anyone walking on it can assume that it is safe to do so. If they then slip on some ice etc, then the responsibilty has fallen onto the person/company doing the clearing (ie. they didn’t do the job properly) and as such can then be sued.
This isn’t a health and safety issue more an ambulance chasing lawyer one
Just my interpretation

Do you mean Headcorn ???

OK, Now I’m confused. Over on Historic they’re allowed to post photographs in the main forum. Even Moggy has passed comment in his moderator mode. So is this site saying
1 Take your own photo and post it Photographic.
2 Use a really old photo and it can go in the main forum (in which case I’ll start diggin for my old stuff??
Just checking
Matt
I have assumed that this particular welter of rather repetitive threads is for any old pictures you have lying around of said aircraft, whereas the photographic forum is for people who have actually taken the pictures themselves.
This is the users’ forum, if people want to post these threads we (the mods) can’t in all fairness zap them just because they seem pretty pointless.
I guess we just sit back until one has been created for every type ever flown.
Personally I’d appeal to those tempted to post any more just to stop it.

Hi,
I would presume cabin decompression during the cruise would call for an immediate decend and landing at an appropriate airport. A bit more than a diversion ( bad weather springs to mind )
Matt 🙂
