When you look at the top picture on page 41 of the february issue of FP magazine 2010, it’s hard to believe that Grumpy made the trip to the US. The propellor of the port engine is missing at least one blade!!!
🙂 Hadn’t noticed that even though I took the picture. I can assure you it was there 😀
I may be wrong Daz (and I am sure that PA will correct me if I am), but the aircraft converted by Vickers (like 407) don’t count as modified, where as those done as a modern conversion to two seaters are modified. – thats my guess in any case 😀
Thats was Daz is saying!
That if the modified term applies to non Vickers conversions then why doesnt SM520 carry it as well?
Jon
I see that now – I’ll get my coat:D
Hmm. If that’s the case, then SM520/G-ILDA should have the same description, but doesn’t.
I don’t think SM520 was one of the Vickers conversions, unless it was IAC160?

Thanks Tony – that’s useful info, as I wondered what the other aircraft’s ID was. 🙂
The wings will indeed be next. As for time to flight – depends on the wings and of course no unplanned extras for the engineers as the season passes. Will be well worth the wait.
The new colours look fantastic. I am sure that Roobarb will have an image on the pages of Flypast very soon!
There will be something on this Seafire in the next issue of the magazine, as part of a feature on Airframe Assemblies. I’ve not yet seen the layout, but it should include some images. 🙂
I’ve spoken to Peter today and an official response is now on his Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Hangar11Collection/
The Camel made it out of the workshop today – looking lovely!
That’s really interesting James – spooky in fact! 🙂
I designed the ‘old’ logo and it did its job for what was needed at the time, although I do agree it was possibly to complicated. The new logo is very practical, as it combines the engine shape with a flower shape, and thus ties the Swiss Garden into The Collection. Shuttleworth is more than just aircraft, especially after all the work that has taken place in the Swiss Garden, so an agency came up with a rather stylish solution, which I personally feel works very well.

From this afternoons additional flight – I’m sure DCW will add more.

Interesting to see a picture LZ844 on Facebook:
Anyone know of the plans for her?
