Here’s one of my favourites – I’m sure you may have seen it before 🙂

Looks as if Kermit, or others may have infringed the Cardington Danger Zone. In place to prevent the unwary from having their horizontal surfaces removed by the tethering wire of the barrage balloon that is still occasionally deployed at Cardington.

Nope – we had special permission to fly over the site for the photo sortie.

I took this shot a few weeks back, and you can see the work being done to the roof. Sorry about that aircraft getting into shot! 😀

…and who will be piloting the R.E.8 and Albatros – presumably Kermit and Gene have now left for home ?

Kermit has indeed gone home, but Stu Goldspink is qualified to fly the Albatros. I believe Gene is heading into Europe and will hopefully return to fly the RE8 (Stu is not qualified to fly it, or indeed any of The Collection pilots). If the weather permits. the RE8 and Albatros are due to fly out of Duxford today (if they haven’t already). Otherwise, the RE8 may well get stuck there for a week or so until Gene is back – or of course a container to Hendon.

We have a a special mounted print available in The Shuttleworth shop of the Re8 and Albatros air-to-air. There’s a limited number, so if you want one, get into the shop early!

The Comet – keep you fingers crossed, but it may or may not happen.

Fokker Triplane back at Sywell so RE8 should be safe:) BE2 is waiting willing and able, just waiting for the call 🙂
