Sorry to post yet more images, but it was such a great show.
Last lot before I head to the airport.

And hereβs some others.

Lee,
I have to agree that that take off shot is absolutely excellent.
Great news. And also good to see the progress on the Swordfish.
That’s absolutely stunning Darren!
I’ve always loved your pictures posted here, had a look at your site as well; (my favourites; the Typhoon bike -what is that thing?-, the flowers, the airship hangars)And the monochrome is great as well…very much like the experiment.
What would a bit more nightsky livery do to create a atmosphere; like a lit historical hangar, or wintery trees, a silver lined cloud, some moonlight, a snowcovered field at night…just to keep you busy π
Don’t get me wrong; these pics are beautiful the way they are..
Thanks for the feedback on the website. The Typhoon “bike” was 134 (Bedford) Sqn Air Cadets entry into the Red Bull races a few years back. I was CO of the squadron at the time, and did some PR shots for us, as the RAF were sponsoring the project.
Nice picture Anna, and some good guys to meet as well!
Wonderfull air to air’s Tom, thanks for posting them.
Adrian,
It’s caused by the prop arc.
Richard has made some very practical comments on this thread, and Albert, I’m sorry but as Nick has pointed out, it’s not just a case of owning the right kit.
Selling images to magazines does not make a living, it just brings in a bit of cash. You can take pictures at airshows and sell them, but you need to have established a good reputation with the right contacts.
A recent experiance has shown me that despite air to air images being very nice and sellable, peaple are far more interested in something unusual, and that’s what sells. A nice plan view of a aircraft taken at a show is great, but not unusual. I have a lot of these images in my portfolio that I am very proud of, but they will remain as just nice images that I like, but they have little commercial value.
Oppertunity, planning and a creative mind are crucial to success.
I beleive I saw the Wasp turn up at DX on Sunday.
Bomberboy
That would be Tim Manna’s that flew in.
HAC’s is I believe due to fly soon
TFC’s is now owned by Peter Jackson
I see from your post you are a photographer, have you had much luck getting your work published, i suppose you need to be really good to have your work used in the public domain.
I, like a few others on this forum get by with a few published shots. Pick up a copy of the Duxford airshow program on Sunday, and that may help answer your question. π
Thanks for the advice. I’d never thought of that.
Moggy
Really??
Anyway, Welcome to the Forum Moocher and what a great name, it reminds me of the artwork on one of Avro’s Finest.
Matt,
I have recently reviewed the S3, and I was quite impressed by some aspects. Yes it is slow, and certainly not ideal for action, so I would not recomend it for such work. For landscapes, and more so portrait work, the tonal (dynamic) range is one of the best you can buy. Image quality is very good, and with the Nikon lens mount you have plenty of options.
Darren – Are you not heading to Leicester to view Chipmunks en mass weather permitting?
Doesn’t look as if I will make it im afraid
