Isn’t that what the pirates flag, mission symbols, and general pinkyness is about?
There was a lot more artwork on the starboard side. 🙂
Will she be getting her Gulf War nose art back – I do hope so. 🙂
Love this kind of thread. Thanks so much for posting the images, with some interesting history too.
Stunning.
…and yes it is in the book, if we can ever get the damn thing printed.
Mark
Now there’s high praise!! – and totally justified. 🙂
wot, no pictures???
🙂
Roger Smith.
They will be in the next issue 🙂
Peter has written this up as an interesting article that will be published soon.:)
Well done Paul – she is looking superb. Can’t wait to see this old girl fly, as i spent a lot of time with her at RAF Abingdon in the 1980’s. First Spitfire I ever sat in. 🙂
Thank you everyone for the generous comments which are much appreciated – it was a team effort, as these projects always are, however the owner should also be congratulated for instigating the re-paint in the first instance.
We are all very pleased with the results 🙂
Brilliant work mate – hope to see you a week Saturday.;)
I believe they were fitted just prior to the September show.
Nice selection of pictures. The guy in the back of the Yak52 had a lovely chance for Mustang formation shots!
Indeed I did. 🙂 although it was a bit bumpy! 😀
They will appear in FP soon.
Thank you Darren and everybody else.
I only managed to get one more decent formation shot which was from Saturday. I would have preferred a bit of blue sky but can’t complain.
Perfect stuff Martin. Can you PM me your email address so we can sort out how to get the images to PT. Many thanks.
Darren
Martin,
Great images as always.
Do you have any more shots of Peter Teichman’s Hurribomber and the MkI Spitfire? He would be very interested in getting some copies if you have some (including the one posted on here).
If anyone else has great shots of that pair combi, please PM me if you are willing to let Peter have copies.
(I may not reply until Thursday as I’m away)
Thanks
Darren
The academy is a great idea and certainly gets you close to the action. I’m guessing they used the Skyvan, which is an excellent camera ship for head ons. You don’t get battered by the airflow and have more room to compose your shots. Look forward to some more – well done.
Excellent news Bruce – she has come on a long way since I last photographed her. Must pay a visit again soon, especially if you plan to get the pair outdoors at some point! 🙂
We were shooting some air-to-air for the new sponsor. Images will appear soon.
The sound system was very loud, and what’s wrong with cruising in an Aztec 😀
