I was referring to when the Turkish institution (Bilkent) developed experiemental GaN transistors (which was back in 2007) not when the GaN technology itself was first developed first in the world. Bilkent has now just recently commercialised its processes and is ready to utilize them in Turkish radar programs.

Turkish Aerospace Industries will be developing an entirely new air-to-air platform using Turkish R&D. Aselsan will be responsible for AESA radar, glass cockpit, Roketsan will be responsible for Weapons systems etc.

Turkish Aerospace Industries, the Turkish company that built F-16’s for the Turkish and Egyptian Air Forces under licence from Lockheed Martin and modernised Jordanian, Pakistani and Turkish F-16 will be the Prime Contractor. TAI also produces recon. satellites such as the Gokturk-2.
