Shorts had already produced the Scion senior with 4 pobjoys and I always wondered what the relationship between this wing and the Stirling !/2 scale was?

    Robsky,
I recently returned to N.Ireland for a visit after a period of some 25 years and though materially Belfast has changed for the better the hearts of the people are still polarized.
My wife and I were the subject of a documentry by BBC N Ireland “Homesick” seen about 3 weeks ago in N Ireland.
However we were saddened by the lack of change in the minds of a lot of people who should know better. There well could be a political facet on this stupid distruction so be careful in setting it up again because if done once it could be in danger a second time.

    Alder tag,

VH-ACG has it,s origional Gipsy 3 up front so there is no conection to the Skeeter at all.

We also have VH-UVC in long term restoration with the possibility of 3 – 4 Pobjoy engines being restored and the core of another couple.

We will need them all for our Short Scion. VH-UTV.

    Pobjoy 734

I am sorry but I enter the thread on an irregular basis.

Our first engine has been running at the Blenheim airshow and you can see a video of it on the Jem Aviation facebook / website

materials for the next 2 are being ordered and these should be on the way for the next few months.

The first 3 are for projects we have in hand and hopefully the swift will not be too long.

You may guess from my avatar what the next project may be.

We have started a small production run of restored Pobjoy engines and these are the first 2. We will probably need 3 of them but reasonably hope to have 4 and perhaps even 5.

I used to row past her when in “Queens” rowing club and thought then that she should be looked after a lot more. Now according to the BBC image we need to come up with a Sopwith whatever it was

Good photos and the place looks very cleaned up since my last visit many years ago.
But what is happening there? Is it not open to the public due to council regulations, lack of funds, lack of volunteers or whatever.?

    Does anyone know?

Dave, I have 2 copies of this book, one printed as a first edition and one printed much later. They differ in his reasons to return to “Blighty” in that in one it was to return to the war and in the other to return to his girlfriend who had unknown to him had been killed.

after it’s return from Oshkosh the 40ft container was found to have been droped from a height so the small battery, which we should have removed, punched out the bottom past the cables . To inspect it all we decided to rebag the fus and we are just about to do this after the niggling little repairs which needed to be done were completed.

So this calander year it will fly again. we hope. On the next years agenda is UVC a Pobjoy brother so before I reach 99 we may see both in the air.

We may repaint ACG as was owned by Wally Hope but are finding a really suitable colour scheme hard to come by.

Any chance of colour scanning the chart and making available copies?
