Cracking website, it’s just a shame to see so many derelicts:(, especially the C 46- i’d love to bring one into the uk as a memorial to those who flew the “Bump”.

With Clumber being a stones throw from Retford & Worksop I’ll keep an eye on the local rags for any info & let you know.

Why not try and obtain a Phantom next 😉

I’d love to see one of each of 56 & 74’s back there- I tried to get the then Stn Cmdr at Waddington to preserve the ex 74 Sqn F 4J there, back in 2000.

Given it was on his logue books, I was surprised that I never even got a acknowlegement.:(

A pity really as Wattisham was the only station to operate the RAF F.4J’s.

It’s sad to see the small watchtower has gone- spent many an hour in there on exercise when it was used as the standby tower.:(

Thank you for the replies, I hadn’t heard about the Stirling but I remember my Dad telling me about the Barracuda & the fact it came down on the railway track which runs through an area of Annesley called “the Warren”.

Don those details certainly fit the bill, many thanks for that.

    Regards Rad.

    P.s. Twinn otter e-mail address duly PM’d.

    Brian,

Here’s to a speedy recovery to you & all involved, thanks again for some wonderful photo’s – all the better for the cracking weather.

I must admit the shot of the T.9 in ?? B of B colours looks very impressive with the underside hiding the second canopy, but the star as got to be the last one- ‘could almost have been taken in ’68 or ’69.;)

Just had another look at the T.9 photo & just noticed the bird flying across- didn’t see that 1st time.:D

What a wonderful gesture to effectively return the Halifax home – well done to all

By the way did this Halifax carry nose art?- if so it would be an ideal candidate for your cockpit Cees.

Definitely shadow, as already stated you can see it cast on both wings & the stbd tailplane.

If you take into account the film exposure allowance being for the silver areas it would result in a slight under exposure of the shadow areas and enhance the the oil streaks from the nacelle making them appear much darker.

Lightwaves are parallel,so a shadow would be fairly sharp which is the case – the similar dimentions of the shadow to that of the aircraft in the photo suggest the top aircraft was very close, so I just hope they weren’t too close to the bomb release point at the time the photo was taken.

Last week-end the Lasham SWWAPS Mk 8 was still sat in the field, I gather its not (yet ?) for sale but its (to the uneducated eye….) in original condition. I agree on the Venom/Vampire comment as well, “under represented” as Bruce said.

Who is the owner of the F.8 now?
