Nice pics!

Tell me, one of you Ringway lads……the Runway used to be 06/24. Did they move it a tad, making 23?

On 7 June 2007, at 00:00 UTC (01:00 BST), Manchester Airport’s runway assignments were changed in relation to the magnetic compass bearings. The previous headings for the runways were 056° and 236° with assignments 06L/24R and 06R/24L respectively. The new headings for the runways are 054° and 234° with new assignments of 05L/23R and 05R/23L respectively. The signs located on taxiways and entrances to the runway were changed on the evening of the 6th June, 2007.[21] The runway designators changed at the same time.

Did a EZY Flight from AGP divert into LBA?

I would of thought that LPL would be a Better divrsion and if that was bad then DSA.

The aircraft was told to go-around by ATC because of a runway incursion. Because of the poor visibility they had to get the ops vehicle to check the whole runway. The EZY A320 has already been holding for a while and was getting low on fuel – He asked for a straight in approach but because of the ops vehicle checking the runway, which was declined and was put into the hold again. Liverpool’s visibility was also poor so LBA was the safest option.

Nice report. Celebair was pretty bad wasn’t it. They showed more coverage after/before the flight than the actual flight itself which is slightly pointless.

Nice shots Darren. I saw D-AGPA in Dusseldorf on the 5th November on the remote stand – It didn’t look like it was going anywhere in a hurry. Good to see it still flying though.

What about the A318 then, compared to the ERJ145? Does the A318 have better STOL characteristics, or is it that the A318 would be in a VIP config and as such have a reduced number of pax compared to, say, a typical ERJ145 layout?

I think the A318 is pretty much VIP config, not to mention it will route via Shannon on the outbound sector so it won’t be atall heavy.

Most ERJ145s don’t have reverse thrust so that could be a factor, i’m not too sure though.

Sam, I think the flight aborted his takeoff earlier in the day due to an engine problem. He asked the Fire Services to also check the brakes – I’ve heard it needs the engine replacing, I don’t know if that is true or not. There was 3 Emirates 777s in today –

A6-EBX – Tech
A6-EMP – UAE8017/8018 (picking the tech pax up)
A6-ECB – UAE17/18

Did anybody see the RAF VC-10 arrive today into MAN mid afternoon, I was in Cheadle at the time so only got to see the underside. Does anybody know if they still carry passengers or was it a refueler? Also noted that the Kalita 747 is back again, any ideas why and what it’s carrying?

Lastly, an A330 arrived just after the VC-10 which was red and white, but again I could only see the underside and couldn’t see who it was, anybody know?

There was two VC10s in today – The A330 was the Qatar special colours.

I don’t think they would have flown across the pond all the way with the undercarriage down, landed at Shannon and then Manchester. More likely a medical diversion.

Not sure it was a medical emergency – It was on FBOweb last night as filed to land at Shannon, so im not sure what happened.

By the sounds of it, Dave sounds like some spotter at Manchester Airport who was telling me pretty much the same :rolleyes: He been to Lanzarote aswell?!
