You’re going to get a visit, Mr.P……..;) There’s nowt wrong with MV268 she’s just on her annual. We’ve pulled the carb for a bit of work, which should be completed way before the season begins again.
We have chosen a scheme for the XVIII, and will publish in due course…the wingtips are fitted, and are staying on, at least for now 😉
As Brian’s funeral is taking place today, it might be a suitable time to put aside for now discussion of the possible causes and whether it is justifiable to broadcast images of crash scenes, and pay respect to a well-loved man and respected member of the historic aviation community.
Probably the leanest show in Duxford’s history….if it wasn’t for the Piper Cubs, YaKs and Extras there would be hardly anything to watch….:p and yes, Roobs, you did miss the Falklands re-enactment, but then so did the IWM! After all, they left the Pucara in the hangars for that one 😮
I tried to make a visit in August 1999, and back then the Museum was only open on Thursdays, and not at all during August when the base is closed.
Tut tut….. and you with a “super-spotter” on hand for guidance:p
Perhaps Bograt was out sharpening his pencil to get the Mustang’s number:DPs what was the number for Miss velma I was too busy taking pictures of it landing to write it down 🙂

If you can stretch to it, the IS range by Canon are very VERY good. I just splashed out on a set of 18×50’s from ebay. They are normally £700+ retail, so you have to think seriously about them, but with the image stabilisation they will sit rock steady, and I can easily check out liveries of aircraft on airways.
There are lower magnification models available , so you might find something in your budget; if you can afford them, these noccies really are the dogs’ danglies and you’ll never need another pair.
No UK military service, sadly; thanks to the policy of successive governments not to equip our armed forces with the home product; that of course does discount the Piggies that flew for Hunting on military support para drops out of Weston-on-the-Green until not so long ago.
Try Pink Aviation Services for info as to how to get one apart, they are quite a substantial operator of the type.
(All in German but they do sprachen ze Englisch)
Here’s a pic; Area 51 type security around the shed until it was rolled out….what a load of trouble to go to over a replica…:p
…..at Duxford 29/1/07, P-39Q G-CEJU 😀
Hey, a new phrase to be trotted out endlessly:-
“Won’t it be at Legends?”
What say you BWB 😀
Welcome back Roobs…..that’s one hell of a way to get out of doing DIY!!
The Flugwerke 190 just had it’s first engine run at Area 51 – don’t half sound funny!
’tis the season to be silly…:p
