Shouldn’t you be working, Roobarb?
😀
Note to moderators….can we get a ‘Tongue in Cheek’ icon please? :diablo:
I’ll be up at Area 51 on Friday to bring back those rivets we borrowed…..
Wow! Isn’t it great the way they’ve grafted that genuine Pearl Harbor anchor nut into a new-build P40. Shame that it was only possible to save the cage as the nut was corroded beyond use. Mind you I understand that that cage has a nick in it from an incoming bullet from a Zero that was attacking at the time. This is also under rebuild from a wood splinter after it was shot down by a Colt 45 aimed by John wayne and the wreckage was washed up on the shore of some beach out there and used as a tooth-pick by Ronald Reagan at the height of the cold war. Such provenance:p
Better not mention “TA805” then……..
…………oops
Good Lord!! Is that a Mike Fenton autograph?!?!?! It’s worth a fortune! 😀
Interestingly, the aircraft has just been put out on the airfield….could be time for an engine run.
That’s what I was wondering…..as it was at DX only a short time ago it’s happened in the last couple of days…..just thought someone on the Forum might be at wherever location the alleged incident may have occurred…
A CAA test pilot…..? One that’s qualified on helicopters trying a vertical landing, perchance….?
Pen Pusher…if you are able to spare any weekdays I travel to TFC every day Monday-Friday from St.Ives and would happily give you a lift.
I remember a ‘Flight International’ Christmas Quiz many years ago in which one of the questions was “Where does the most noise come from in a piston engine?” in the general aviation section of the quiz.
The answer was; from the propeller – so, it would make sense that a combination of different exhaust stacks, props, air scoops and the like would give each machine a distictive sound.
Wot a bunch of spotters eh?!?!?!? :p We don’t like them at TFC…….. 😉
How about Alan Allen? He’s a bit of a Vampire expert. That’s certainly a tyre size rather than a part number, you could try Watts Aviation in the UK as they do most of our rubber at Duxford. We just give them a size and that’s all they need.
Ah Bograt woken up I see should be ordering bits and pieces for the engine (non-pertinent word) not (non-pertinent word) around on here :p :p
Too busy spotting mate!!
oops…I’ve been rumbled; anyone seen my thermos and binos?
😮
Hey! It could be worse, Cosford’s York has a television screen built into the side. Don’t know whether it’s supposed to be Tinky Winky or Laa Laa…
“And a good years flying with a servicable Merlin up front.”
Not for much longer eh?? We know a good Spitfire engine buggerer….. 😀
TFC for their latest acquisition, a forty-nine year old relic…….
ME!!!!!
:diablo:
I’ll have to let you know…….. 😉
