RE: Easyjet? What’s so easy about it?

I do not see that program very often, but as Easyjet has a base at my local airport I have flown with them often and on the whole the service is good. Certainly comparing them with BA the cabin crew on board tend tobe more friendly and helpful. I would also say when I want something to eat i prefer what I can buy from the trolley, than the free offering (its not really free you pay for it in the price) that BA or the likes give you. Recently flew with KLM MAN-AMS-HAM and the food offered which wasn’t very much was disgusting. Lastly you can also get very good fares with them on one-way and return trips.

Swissair also upset alot of their Geneva passengers a few years back by cutting back on Long-haul from there and concentrating more out of Zurich.

I agree what a complete waste of time and money that was, im just glad I wasn’t paying for it, thank god they are a private company. I do like the “Chatham Dockyard design” for a change the flag carrier has one of the best logos in Europe, which has not always been the case !

In my opinion BA are only interested in LHR anyway, forget the rest of the country.

I can’t remember exactly when Air corbiere were operating, but it was an operating name of Air Atlantique. I think the name Air Corbiere (probably incorrect spelling !) was used for the CI association. Isn’t there a Corbiere lighthouse in the CI somewhere ??

Anyway from memory i did the trip about 5-6 years ago.

Not sure when my visit might be I guess the summer.

Shame Easyjet doesnt do a regular service JER-LTN or LGW & JER-LPL. That would bring prices down and encourage new visitors.

Thanks for all the info ! I do not know any of the CI well. Last time I was there I went for a long weekend in GCI, and spent quite a bit of time on the beach at Herm, which was very nice. At that time we had a very handy service operated by Air Corbiere. It was daily from Liverpool to the CI and we stopped at Coventry on the way, but I dont remember any stop on the return. I know they also stopped at Gloucester instead of Coventry on some flights. We flew on a Metroliner, although I beleive they substituted this with other aircraft from their fleet from time to time. This included a DC3 one day, which i understand slightly alarmed the awaiting passengers in LPL !! Great shame they stopped operating the route as I understand it was quite well supported, it even operated through the winter months .

Ive travelled through there on a few occasions although I do not live in London. I have to say its a bit of an oasis for London airports. Quite small, comfortable, low on stress !

    RE: Keenair

I understand that Emerald Airways have the largest fleet anywhere of HS 748. They used them a few years ago to operate a scheduled service LPL-IOM and for a very short time LPL-WAT. The IOM route operated for quite a while. Thewy offered really good fares, and boosted passengers on that route. Manx didnt like it, as LPL-IOM is there biggest route, they made life quite tuff for them and Emerald gave up. Since then they have reverted back to a mainly cargo airline.

It was quite sudden when BE pulled out, no announcment or anything. A Blackpool based carried took over the route for a while, their name escapes me for the moment, something like “saphire” or “soverign” can’t quite remember. Anyway they went out of business, which is wy Keenair took over the route I guess.

Keenair are very new to scheduled services, they were mainly concerned with private charters etc. They also do mail contracts I beleive.

Yes I think you are right, Emerald may operate some freight flights out of BLK. They were once called Janes Aviation and were based in BLK. They then moved to LPL and altered their name to Emerald because of the fact they were heavily involved with flights to Ireland. Emerald also have quite a large presence at Coventry.

If I need to travel to somewhere I can-not get directly to (I do not live in the SE) I much prefer to use Amsterdam than Heathrow. You may have long walks but its all under one roof, none of this bus transfer stuff ! Stansted is nice and i think Brussels was quite good.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-01-02 AT 05:48 PM (GMT)]Yes I think that is right. They started offering a Cork flight from Liverpool around spring last year. It operates on Fridays and Sundays only. They had talked about adding a Monday rotation, however this has not happened as yet. Possibly because they have taken over the Irish Sea route from Blackpool. I think they are now the only scheduled operator out of BLK. Things were different there once with JEA, Manx and Loganair operating out of there. Before that there was a company called Spacegrand. Some charter flights are offered to Spannish destinations. The new terminal at BLK isn’t bad, big improvement on the old war-time facility before.
