    RE: Worst UK Airport

I flew into Humberside once on an Air Uk service from Tees side. Not a very long flight, but a very long drive. I dont think you can do this route now and at the time I was the only person who got on the flight in Tees side for the short hop. i think the aircraft may have originated in Aberdeen. It was quite late when we got into Humberside and the pilot was worried about fog, but we made it. Im not sure if the aircraft went onward to Norwich (Which incidently I think is much worse than Humberside). I like the fact you can park on a minor road and watch aircraft land. I havent been passed that way for a while anything new ?

p.s the runway seems to have humps ?

The nicest cup of coffee ive ever tasted was with VLM. I flew with them once or twice when they operated a London City-Liverpool service

I quite like London City and Stansted. We have a new terminal now at Liverpool so i will have to wait to see what its like when i go to Amsterdam later on in the year.

I hope they do !In my neck of the woods, my local airport (Liverpool) is now carrying the most passengers from the Northwest of England to Amsterdam. The CAA figures for November show Easyjet (ex LPL) 32,990, KLM uk (ex MAN) 32,124 and BA (ex MAN) 8383. Easyjet has 44% of the passengers. This is quite satisfying as both KLM and BA never showed any interest in offering a service out of Liverpool. Just to add sort into BA wounds Easyjet now carry more passengers from the Northwest to Belfast than any other airline.

I think Heathrow is un-friendly and un-inviting. Stansted is very nice, although i’ve only been through there once !

I prefer the new logo to the “ethnic” style one and the one before that which i thought “dull”.However I dont like the design over the windows towards the front of the new “Chatham Dockyard” style it looks like a piece of ribbon !

RE: Favourite & worst looking airliner of all time

For me my favourites would be Super VC10, DC10, DC9 and BAC1-11 also the DC8 -63 and the like, the real stretched ones and in the old CP air livery. Also Fokker 50 for the good view.

Least favourites, Tridents most 737s although travelled on a series 800 of Sabre Airways that was quite nice. The 146 i think is cramped.

    RE: Ryanair going transatlantic?

How weird, your article broke my dream i had a few days ago, My local airport is Liverpool and I use it quite often. Easyjet is a large carrier based there and i dreamnt that I was considering booking on their new Liverpool-San Francisco route !! They were still using 737s, this didnt worry me, but i was a bit worried about no film, no music, and only sandwiches and pringles to eat for the whole journey !!

Being more serious, Dont see why Ryanair couldn’t do it, infact i have often wondered if or when a low-cost carrier might start such a service. I suppose their equipment is not right, but they have the money to sought that out easy enough.

    RE: EUROCELTIC

A link such as Britannia was considering would have brought holidaying in the Channel Islands within the reach of many more people, maybe the authorities want to keep it select ? I think they are probally just succeeding in pushing people into going to the Med instead. All The CI gets is lost revenue !

LAST EDITED ON 11-10-01 AT 11:32 PM (GMT)[p]Yes you are right it is good news, I must admit with all the trouble right now I thought the reserection of the route would be delayed further, but there you are, it starts next week.

As someone who has to travel from the Mersey are to the southeast im glad, the train is frankly awfull and the M6 is a nightmare. You wouldn’t think it was so difficult to get round a small country !

Glad that BMI is trying to reconnect JER with LHR. These “lifeline” type link should not be lost. I don think this would have happened in France for example. Liverpool lost its LHR link several years ago (that was also British Midland), loads of others have gone, Norwich, Humberside, Exeter, East Midlands Birmingham etc.

Incidentally do you know a service operates from Blackpool to Biggin Hill, using a J31 I think its is 3 times per week. it is operated by Platinum Air.
