They seem to be having quite a bit of trouble. They re-launched WAT-LPL, took quite good loads but since their aircraft trouble everything is up in the air again (or not as the case may be !)

BA lost my luggage before when I was travelling MAN-LHR-DEL (Virgin) they sent my luggage to terminal 4, where it sat, until I found a helpfull lady from Virgin who went on a mission to find my bag. Virgin was responsible for my luggage but it was infact BA’s thought, I even received some compensation from Virgin which was nice. Im flying MAN-LHR-CMB at the end of March for a holiday and I think I will get the luggage checked through to LHR only, which is more hassle for me really. May fly BMI down to LHR as i think BMi and Sri Lankan Airlines are part of the same alliance.

I have read that this year for the first time a charter will operate from Stornaway to Faro. i think Transun Holidays are running it.

what BA is doing now, appears very similar to what they did around the 70/80s dropping loads of regional route. At that time companies such as Dan-Air and British Midland stepped in. Its funny how things seem to repeat themselves.

Prague to Cork is an interesting route. Would allow people in the Southeast of Ireland to take advantage of CSA connections to the Far East, if they still do them ? They used to have good fares to Singapore I remember

I like the livery, however a friend of mind flew on them last summer from Manchester to Orlando. he said they were looking abit knackered inside, although i believe you can pay a supplement and fly up-stair, i think they call it the “sun-deck” or something. I have also seen their aircraft at Dublin

I agree, i think it was such a shame they went, they were around for years and had a very interesting fleet at times. That was their last livery, but I liked most of the ones they had.I also remember thew fact they were the only UK airline with 727s, 100s and 200s

Im surprised they are doing any expansion just at the moment, I would have thought they would have sat tight until the companies financial situation settled down

its nice that Luton has got a piece of the Ryanair action, they were kind of forgotten with FR concentrating everything at Stansted.

    RE: Euromanx competes with BA

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-11-02 AT 01:45 PM (GMT)]BA and BD would rather dictate to people where they fly from and not what is actually more convenient to them, as so far as a Liverpool to London service is concerned. Euroceltic is operating LPL-LTN as an extention of a service from WAT to LPL. It isnt much of a service and is really more concerned with bringing Irish over to the Northwest of England. The airline has undergone a change in ownership since they were last at LPL so will we see if they are more reliable this time.

Easyjet has been rumoured tobe looking at LPL-LGW, this would be a very welcome connection, have to wait and see.

    RE: Euromanx competes with BA

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-11-02 AT 08:45 AM (GMT)]Your right, Easyjet did operate LPL-LTN and yes it was a popular service, I used it many times and flights were mainly full or nearly full. It was a great alternative than the train (and often cheaper), people got used to arriving at Luton for travelling into London which before this service was kind of un-known to people of the Northwest. However about a year after the route started EZY had a major row with the owners of LTN regarding landing fees which they wanted to increase quite alot. Easyjet said this would make short-hop route un-profitable, the row went on for a while and the result was the LPL-LTN service stopped.

Since then the rail service has become much worse, and I think few would consider driving to London for a days business (dont forget congestion charges start very soon!!!). You wouldn’t think is was so time consumming to get around the UK !
