RE: Sheffield Airport.
Maybe if their are any Sheffield based travel firms who has some foresight they may charter a 146 for say a Palma or Alicante service ?? Inverness have a route to the Med now, I understand Transun (Who are Oxford based) maybe running it ??
RE: Trip Report:My Day In Jersey
BMI have stopped their LPL-JER route this year which is not good, it had operated for years. Now we just have some weekend charters. The route is not well catered for.
RE: Sheffield Airport.
Sheffield airport is at least part-owned now by Peel Holdings. This company also own Liverpool Airport, which has changed dramaticly in recent years, lots of flights and a new state-of-the-art terminal building. The big difference between Liverpool and Sheffield is Sheffield’s runway is so short. I guess a 146 could fly from there to Spain, but how many operators are doing that these days ?? The only one I can think of is Palmair out of Bournemouth.
Its a shame KLMuk didnt keep the Amsterdam link going. I do agree that the airport is well situated for roads etc.
RE: Renaming JMC
Thomas Cook as a brand is far better known and also Thomas Cook Holidays had more of a quality image. JMC hasn’t been around for very long, a bit of a waste of money I would have thought !!
RE: Work Experience with British Midland
Nice pic, I used to fly on BD quite alot between LPL and LHR. The normal aircraft they used was the DC9-15. However that was then and they dont fly from here anymore. I must say I liked the livery they had previous to the one you have in your picture, although I also like the latest one as well. Seems a shame they can’t say British Midland Airways (BMA) anymore, think they are forgetting their routes a little.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-05-02 AT 01:35 PM (GMT)]Do they have a web site at all ?? I couldn’t find any details from Southend Airport’s web site.
RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:
Hi Mark
Do you know anything about a limited scheduled flight between Manston and Southend ?? Quite a handy link really asit would cut out quite a conjested drive.
RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:
Hi mate
Manchester has good facilities for viewing, it has a special viewing park (you pay) but you get good runway views. At Humberside you can park along a minor road where you get good views, not loads to see there but during the summer months they have various charters to the Med.
My Local airport is Liverpool. In the new terminal you get a good view of the apron, but I prefer being outside if I have a choice. It is possible to get to either end of the runway. If you go to the western end (09) you will need to go into Speke Hall (NT) this is worth going to anyway, but you get very good views here from a raised embankment which looks over the river and the runway. There’s also a great tea-room where you can get something nice to eat/drink and walk right upto the airport fence. On a nice sunny day its very pleasant. We have quite a lot of movements these days (expect a lot of the orange variety !), plus Ryanair, Manx (now BA) and quite a few charter movemts, Monarch and Britiannia have based aircraft.
RE: New low cost in UK
As someone who hails from Kent originally, and has used the rail network, im aware that its crap !!
RE: New low cost in UK
Rail Track (I think it would be them, who knows !!!) take some convincing in building a rail link. Manston would have to hit a critical mass before they would consider it. They could run a bus link to Ramsgate Station to start with. Manston does sometimes have summer service to the CI as well.
RE: What’s the SHORTS 360 like????
I flew on one years ago it was Air Uk from STN-GCI and at the time I quite liked it but it was mid-summer and we got a fab view comming into GCI the colour of the sea is really nice.
However I know Manx Airlines used to use them quite extensively from up here at LPL to both BHD and IOM, I don’t think they were widely liked particularly if it was bad weather. They were reliable and safe aircraft, does anyone remember the Aer Lingus one hitting the power-lines I think at East Midlands ???? Everyone got off ok from what I can recall.
RE: A Low Low Price for a Not So Low Airline!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-05-02 AT 10:03 PM (GMT)]I wonder if Easyjet will concentrate on using only STN or LTN. They are very close to one another. STN is certainly nicer than LTN with an integral rail-link which LTN does not have…..yet. With Easyjet using two BAA airports that may give them more bargaining clout, however LTN will not want to give up Easyjet very easyly !
Up here in Liverpool there are reports that new routes as a result of the “GO” take-over will be launched. The LPL-CDG route launched this month is doing very well and a third rotation is due shortly.
RE: New low cost in UK
Manston certainly has the runway length and maybe and adequate terminal initially, but I thinks its quite far-away from London without any good ground transportation links. The nearest motorway would be the M2.
RE: British European new livery-pic here!!!!
Yes I think its quite nice, but as others have said I also liked the old one as well.
