Talking about tridents any trident experts out there know why the Chinese Trident had completely different designed yokes to that of the British Tridents?

Runway06 it’s quite a simple answer really….the reason behind it was for commonality with Boeing equipment..thus PIA and Iraqi airways had the same horse shoe control’s as CAAC…..that’s it really..

(quick edit as i forgot that CAAC bought the PIA aircraft which had the horse shoe controls) this was prior to the order for 33 Trident 2E’s for HSA.

    Hope this answers your question..:D

To be honest with you it really makes no difference when re joining the wings (been there before..:D) we needed to keep the strength in the undercarrige area hence the way we have cut it.I see yer point but thats the way i wanted it cut.:D

Just out of interest, why did the wings get cut in the way that they have been? By that, I mean, why is there a kink where the mounts for the undercarriage are? Why not just cut in a straight line outboard of the mounts?

The reason why we cut the wings in that manner was to keep within Highways agency maximum width allowed to be transported by road.Sadly in the case of Trident 3B G-AWZK we were not allowed to move as wide as we did with G-ARPO..:D

Sarah ref Cyprus Aiways Viscount’s and Trident’s…

The government of newly independent Cyprus became the majority shareholder in 1960 with a 53.2 percent holding, while BEA’s stake was reduced to 22.7 percent and private individuals held the rest. Thereafter, Cypriot nationals began to be hired and trained for the flight crews, which had previously been made up of British expatriates from BEA.

Cyprus Airways relied on the U.K. airline for aircraft. BEA began introducing Comet 4B jets on all routes in 1961 via a joint aircraft pool arrangement that included Greece’s Olympic Airways.

In 1965, Cyprus began leasing its own Viscounts from BEA for regional routes. Around this time, a winged mountain goat, the flying mouflon, was adopted for the airline’s logo.

The Comet and Viscount aircraft were replaced with five Trident jets three of them acquired from BEA. The first Hawker Siddeley Trident jet was introduced in September 1969.

As a purist, I have to mention that ‘RPO never flew in Northeast colours.

Correct she did not fly in the livery, but we already have a 2E in red square,G-AWZK in BEA Arrowjack and a few Negus BA liveried airframes…our idea (and im a purist too) is to put the aircraft as a type in a livery that has never before been displayed,we will be applying BA titles to the starboard side in the northeast livery to replicate the merger of the two airlines in 1976 and in future we may well re livery the aircraft into BKS,Channel and BEA in the future to keep the interest..:D

Is that an L1011 in the distance behind G-AWZU? If so, what airline did it belong to?

It is an ex Air Ops L1011…
