I have a question about the Friends of The Fighter Collection enclosure. I am going with my brother on Sunday and as I have a friends membership am wanting to use it. Does my brother need a membership or can we take guests into the enclosure.

    Thanks in advance.

To answer a couple of your questions Manston Airport,

P-51C, G-PSIC was bought by Jim Beasley and now is based in the USA.

Hangar 11 don’t seem to appear at Legends, can’t remember the reason though.

This could be why ‘Susy’ has been scrubbed off the latest Legends list.

I suppose she could also have gone U/S though!

    Cheers

    Paul

I would think it is more likely U/S as the Mew Gull is still on the list to attend and I believe that is also based at Breighton.

Had the Red Arrows fly over the area for the third time in a month. (FA Cup, Queens birthday and Falklands). Could just about see the helicopters in the distance through my binoculars, same for the Dominies and Herc’s. The rest of the formation inluding the Red’s flew over Northolt again.

I did laugh at what Dan Snow said about the Sea Harriers especially as they had 5 WW2 single engined fighters fly over the day before with no problem and the Reds seem to have no problem every year.

I know why they didn’t have Sea Harriers flying over, but why didn’t they have GR.9’s fly over to represent the Harriers used in the conflict. GR.3’s were used in the conflict so this would have been appropriate.

Saw the BBMF in the distance from my house, had the rest of the flypast fly over the area as they flew towards Northolt.

Does anybody know why the BBMF and the jets go off in different directions, is it because of the speed differential. I was looking forward to my first look at the BBMF for the year as they flew over but had to use my binoculars as they were so far away. At least I had the Reds fly over my house for the second time in a year, maybe tomorrow will be the third.

Enjoying the pics from my local base. Determined to go next year. Been listening to the various aircraft pass overhead, while at work (Stuck in an office so haven’t seen them yet).

Just maintenance as far as I’m aware. I think they have to take them off to get into the hangar.

It is the ex RAF Stanmore gate guard. Used to love looking at it when I used to go to there with the ATC every other week for our physical exercise. It is now part of the Thunder City Collection owned by Mike Beachyhead, wish they would restore it to fly like the Lightnings

Wasn’t there one at the Flambards theme park in cornwall, think it was inside with a concorde cockpit mock up and a couple of other bits and pieces.
