Not sure as to how often google earth is updated as I found my house on it and it had my mums old car that was written off in an accident about 4 years ago on the drive, so not very often.
As for the jumbo, I think it looks cool, maybe they should suggest it to boeing
No the aerostars were at Duxford. I had a search of the internet and found them
http://www.yakovlevs.com/
Which formation team is that in the first pic. I know they fly Yaks and saw them a few years ago, but cant remember who they are.
Stephen Grey was flying the Bearcat, as Bernard Chabet said its the only time during flying legends that he flys.
I enjoyed flying legends as i always do, shame they couldn’t put up all the Bristol fighters but the one that did fly looked like it was struggling in that wind, the morane was good and I really liked seeing the Buchon and Seafire. Thought the Aerostars were good too, even though they are not legends, it was nice to see something different at FL. My aunt who was was with me thought Pink Ladys engine was on fire while it was sitting in front of us, with all the smoke pouring out of one of the engines waiting to taxi for take off to go home. All in all a good legends.
Can someone tell me why TFC’s P39 didn’t fly, it was parked up so you could look at it, I saw it last year was hoping it would be flying again this year.
i was lucky enough to see it and the hybrid that was run by the OFMC on behalf of its owner, black 2, as I think it was called. I think they even flew in formation with the BBMF over London one year.
Can’t wait for Sunday, its a shame the Hawk might not be there to repeat the pairing of Hawk and Morane they did at Le Ferte Alais, hopefully they can get a new engine in time.
thats ok, there were rumours before it crashed that they were thinking of extending its flying career, but the crash brought about the inevitable. i think the team that kept her running wanted to restore her to fly again but it wasn’t to be
Wasn’t it due to the fact that it was going to be retired at the end of that season, that it was not restored, aswell as it being owned by the MOD who had promised it to the RAF Museum. If it had been owned by a private individual it would have been restored back to flying condition.
Saw the flypast from Rayners Lane as it passed in the distance on its way to pass over Northolt
Have you tried the City College, they have accomadation during the summer, but very basic. Stayed there while I was doing my engineering course through Kingston University in affiliation with KLM UK engineering. Not sure of the contact details and how much it would cost, last time I stayed it was £46 a week and that was 2 years ago.
Just had the Black Martin Baker Meteor fly over as it took off from Northolt after the photo day yesterday, also had three Tornados and a Hawk do the same.
I hope it does go to Cosford and then when one of the Eurofighter protos gets retired they cabn sit next to each other so we can see how much of the design came from this aircraft.
Definately the JU52
I think that the 189 was being worked on by Flugwerk who are building the newbuild 190s
Lakenheath is still a very active USAF base. My grandparents live down the road from both Lakenheath and Mildenhall and have spent many a day down there watching the aircraft.
