Was at the Download festival at Donington Park, waiting for Iron Maiden to come on. In the distance I could see a plane circling, thinking it was a bit fast for a light aircraft. Suddenly its flying stage centre straight over the crowd, then makes two more passes. Iron Maiden had requested for the BBMF to perform a flypast to open their set, they sent TE311 and it got the biggest cheer of the night.

more importantly… Where’s the Airways Diner?

    Seriously though – Brilliant pics!

Was always in the Airways Diner at lunchtime during my Degree. Was in the second group that went through the JAR66 degree course with Kingston University in association with KLM UK.

One story I heard about the first group that went through the course, they got the opportunity to spend some of their spare time, if they had finished a certain part of their course, at the Museum. One of the group supposedly riveted a coke can to the bottom of the Meteor. Don’t think any of the courses have been allowed to do any work at the museum since. This would have been in about 2003.

Are you sure that’s the White 1 engine? Those cowlings look kinda familiar…..

Could it be for the one that was secretly restored in the UK, for a co founder of a big american computer software company???? :diablo:

Had a Hercules flying around my house today. Think it was to do with what ever has been happening over at RAF Northolt this weekend. Also saw what I think was a Chipmunk flying over. (was to far away to be sure)

Had the pleasure of seeing the flypast from my garden as it transitioned over RAF Northolt. Didn’t think I would get to see the Spitfire and Hurricane, but out of no where they appeared from a different direction and gave me a nice flyover of the garden.
