As asked earlier in this thread, has the Sukhoi Su-24 ever been re-engined with the Al-31 turbofan? I was googling to see if it had, and it brought me back to this thread, which I’d forgotten.

Are you talking about F-15 or that Su-27 pic?

Su-27. Sorry, the translator can not understand complex sentences.

Do you have a source? Those numbers seem a bit off.

Precise data on the Internet has been found. This calculation, based on the available information, it requires clarification.

    The data for the F-15C:
Flight range F-15C (DT – hanging tank, CFT – conformal tanks):

    Without DT (6105 kg) – 2200 km
    1 DT (6105 kg + 1800 kg = 7905 kg) – 2850 km
    2 DT (6105 kg + 3600 kg = 9705 kg) – 3500 km
    3 DT (6105 kg + 5400 kg = 11,505 kg) – 4150 km

    CFT (6105 kg + 4265 kg = 10,370 kg) – 3700 km
    CFT + 2 PTB (6105 kg + 4265 kg + 3600 kg = 13,970 kg) – 5000 km
    CFT + PTB 3 (6105 kg + 4265 kg + 5396 kg = 15,766 kg) – 5680 km

B.T.W. Does anyone know in what configuration the Su-34 set world record for a combat mission nonstop flight in Russia?
How many DT did it use etc etc??

Likely 3 DT, fuel weight 12100 kg + 3 DT * 2400 kg = 19,300 kg, takeoff weight of 41,800 kg, flight range of 4,500 km

What on Earth makes you think that?

I cross-checked-off weight and suspension settings.

Flight range F-15E (DT – hanging tank, CFT – conformal tanks):

    Without DT (5952 kg) – 1500 km
    1 DT (5952 kg + 1800 kg = 7752 kg) – 1950 km
    2 DT (5952 kg + 3600 kg = 9552 kg) – 2400 km
    3 DT (5952 kg + 5400 kg = 11,352 kg) – 2800 km

    CFT (5952 kg + 4265 kg = 10,217 kg) – 2600 km
    CFT + 2 DT (5952 kg + 4265 kg + 3600 kg = 13,817 kg) – 3500 km
    CFT + 3 DT (5952 kg + 4265 kg + 5396 kg = 15,613 kg) – 3900 km

Actually, weight of bombs does not exceed 5000kg and even that means less fuel because MTOW is reached.

In this photo weight 8000 kg bombs. Fuel weight in this configuration 6400 kg.

Flight range of 1500km in which configuration?

Flight range of the F-15E with no load, external fuel tanks and empty CFT. Note CFT is always empty when it hang bombs. 😉

That is 19 CBU 87s at 430kg each and 4 Aim-9 missiles at 85.3 kg each which gives a total of 8511.2 kg.
    This was also not a F-15E, but a F-15B demonstrator 😉

    1:1 😀

That is 6157 kg of stores (weapons only, not pod weight).

    1x AN/AAQ-13 Navigation Pod, 204.6 kg
    1x AN/AAQ-14 Targeting Pod, 240.7 kg
    4x AIM-9L / M Sidewinder, 86 kg
    5x GBU-10 Paveway II, 956 kg
    2x 610gal Fuel Tank, ~ 2000 kg

    Total: 204.6+240.7+86*4+956*5+2000*2=204.6+240.7+344+4780+4000=9569.3 кг
    Weapons: 86*4+956*5 = 344 + 4780 = 5124 kg / 11 296,5 lbs

Actual weight of bombs hanging under the F-15 does not exceed 5000 – 6000 kg. The rest – fuel tanks and CT, because the flight range of 1,500 km.
Russian pilots miscall MiG-29, a 1,500 km range, “the fighter air superiority over his airfield” 😀
Su-27 experiment, weapon weight 8000 kg. Let me remind you, the Su-27 – Interceptor 😉
    (32 FAB-250 and two F-73, which together are 32 x 250 kg = 8000 kg, 2 x 110 kg (P-73) = 220 kg, 5 x 148 kg (MBD3-U6-68) = 740 kg, 2 x 50 kg = 100 kg (APA-62). Total: 9060 kg.)

… it has occurred to me that the capabilities of the F-15E as a ‘bomb truck’ are pretty phenomenal – far better than most competitors except the heavier Su-34.

What is the total weight of bombs Eagle in a real fight? Do not forget to subtract the weight of the POD and fuel tanks 😉
