Not RAF but one from my own collection of B24 stuff. I got it from a former B24 Pilot. Taken stateside during training before heading off to the 454th BG in Italy. No problem using from this end.

Look at the paper drop tanks on ‘Sweet & Lovely’ – first time they have been seen on a Mustang in the modern era. The port tank is an original (one of only four known to exist), the other is a very clever copy made by Bob Baker, owner, pilot and restorer of this machine. Bob achieved the coveted Grand Chapion (WWII) award from the judges for his efforts this year.
She is a real beauty. When I saw those paper tanks, I had dreams of a flight of those blue nosers getting together all with those tanks for some air to air photography. There are enough of them I can think of that have the armor plate and gunsights that you could put together a heckuva nice image that I wouldn’t mind having on my wall. Get them above the clouds with the pilots wearing the right helmets and clothing and it could be a semi-timewarp
Dan
Where are the other paper tanks btw. I only knew of the one on the AF Museum Mustang. Baker’s makes two. The others?
Some Oscar Duck TBM pics.

Dan is the man,,,,,very good job.
I’ll copy it [with your permission of course] and place it next to the photos of my aircraft. Owning and flying the Avenger has been one of life’s great experiences for me…nearly took Glenn Close flying in it when I had the aircraft in the remake of the movie “South Pacific”…better than that I’ve flown my wife [who’s from Atlanta] and is a real [I]Georgia Peach..
Please use it. That’s what I did it for 🙂

Hi Dan
Great profile – we have one of these flying here in Queensland and i compared this to some photos i took of it and it is now spot on from my perspective.
I am doing a Mk XV Seafire at present – don’t know where I can get some profiles do you ?
Regards
John Parker
Sounds like a good excuse to finally do a Seafire XV. What markings? 🙂
Dan
Hows this?
Dan
 Hi Dan, fantastic. For the purist, the national insignia slopes down a few degrees as it follows the fuselage contours. Also the TBM3E has the ventral gun position deleted. The tail hook on 91110 is external as well although not currently fitted to the aircraft.
Thanks for the corrections. Shouldn’t be too tough to fix.
Dan
There just isn’t an abundance of Hispano Buchon kits around…. 🙁
You’ve done the Hobbycraft Buchon that comes with B of B movie markings?
1/48th scale.
Not a bad kit from what I could tell
Dan
Now that there are a couple of P39s flying, how bout doing Edward’s Park from his book Nanette about flying 39s against the Japanese early in the war. Just your average Joe pilot up against it.
Still the best fighter pilot book I’ve ever read.
Dan
Two from 85 when she was in 41 Squadron markings. The only Spit I’ve ever been in 🙂
Dan
Looks good 🙂
I like the idea of the RCAF paint scheme. Something new and different
Dan
Hello Dan – I thought you might appreciate this Lion Rampant, as worn by 602 squadron throughout the war – also, do you have the location of Bill Stowe standing by Terry Spencer’s XIV ? My suggestions being B.64 Schaffen/Diest or Y.32 Ophoven/Zwartberg.
I am still looking for what seems to be very elusive photo’s of 125 Wing at Y.32 Ophoven/Zwartberg and the snow on the ground fits the bill as it could be before Terry moved to 350 squadron “350 squadron ORB January 4th – The weather is very bad and there is no activity except being a new C.O S/L SPENCER who was Flight Commander in 41 Squadron. Some of us know him already and he will be welcome in 350 Squadron.”
So far as I can ascertain no wartime maps exist of it either. None are even held by the local mayor and, as it was built on his fathers land and compensation would have been paid, it has been a problem. I have modern day location photo’s of the site though – cheers – Allan 🙂
Hi Allan,
Not sure where it was taken. I got it from Terry Spencer along with these three. First one shows Harry Cook, Jack Henry and Dougie Benham of 41 Squadron. The other two are group photos taken in the snow somewhere. Not real great quality but interesting nonetheless. Could be they’re from one of those airfields.
No clue why some of them are carrying rifles.

Dan – The Man: My Avenger is a Grumman TBM-3E VH-TBM s/n 91110 named “Georgia Peach” currently marked as an Avenger flown off the USS Essex in 1945 by VT-83. I have been in contact with the gunner off the original “Georgia Peach”…very eciting actually If you send me an email, I’ll send you photos direct. My B-25 was marked as an aircraft from No. 2 Sqn, RAAF, KO-P. . Also own an 0-2 and 0-1. Oscar Duck.
I sent you a pm with my e-mail address. More then happy to have a go at the Avenger
Dan
Tks Dan. I’ve now got Bill’s complete uniform with DFC etc which I have preserved for the acft etc. She’s in more pieces than that photo and starting to go back together slowly. Frightfully expensive you know…
By the way, have you ever drawn an Avenger? I own one.
The Duck
I haven’t done an Avenger, but I’m always game to try. Which Avenger is yours? Any photos out there on the web of it?
Dan
Edited. I’m a bit slow. found the images you’d already posted 🙂
Which B25 did/do you own? Kinda like those birds too.
Dan, you’re a champion. You’ll be pleased to know that RM-797 EB-E will fly painted in her 1944 colours. It is a four kill veteran. The Duck
Looking forward to the day she flies. I trust she looks a little better now then she did in the mid 80s as shown in the photo I got from Gary Cooper at the time. It’s the only one I’ve seen of RM797 outside of the wartime stuff.
Bottom photo is the only one I have of Bill Stowe with a Spit XIV outside of the group photo. Not very clear, but that’s him standing next to Terry Spencer’s EB-B
Good luck with the restoration 🙂
Dan
