I went to most of the airfields in my area before picking somewhere for my lessons.
At a couple of the schools I went to I felt that the staff were a bit intimidating and just wanted to give me a couple of sheets of paper with prices on and push me out of the door. Others were more interested in pretending they were an airline training school. At one I was asked if I was intending becoming an airline pilot, he seemed dissapointed when I said I wanted to learn to fly for fun! I was also made uncomfortable at one and felt I was being patronised because I am female.
I picked the school I’m at because i was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived, was given a cup of coffee straight away and shown around the aircraft. I spent the whole afternoon there just getting the feel of the place and was never given the impression that I was intruding.

A Stearman ride in February???? Brrrrrrrr my first Stearman trip was in March last year 4 hours after getting back from a month in America, now the poor old girl is in pieces having a bit of a make over for the summer.
Now if we are talking about a Stearman flight on a lovely summer’s evening, there is nothing better….
Enjoy it…

Well I’m just not worried about the cold and can’t wait!
What ever did you do to your Stearman last March to cause it to still be in pieces now! 😮

the ex. has now been an ex for over a year. The one who flies at AF is still very much current and will be for a llllloooooonnnnngggg time if I have anything to do with it.

Think an electrician had better be called here, as wires are definately crossed!

Mel,

As I said, I’m happy for you to go take a look at the T-6 and will arrange it with the guys doing the work to show you around. I won’t be there though as I don’t have the time, especially now I’ve won a little bit of an ongoing battle with my ex. and am again allowed to see my son. Anyway, you’re more than welcome to go take a look at the six. Let me know when and I’ll let Ade and the crew know to expect you.

I’m disappointed in you gents.

As an omnipresent-lurking American this is one of those rare opportunities that keeps me reading the board – I want someone from the Spit Mafia to get upset about about this *******ized Spitfire. No takers?

I apologize for being a novice in the area of all things Supermarine, but can someone please summarize the changes PS890 has undergone over the years?

Must say I would much prefer to see it with the correct wingtips and 5 bladed propeller, but on the other hand if someone spends a lot of money buying an aircraft like that its really up to them what they do with it.

Think so, been up to Norwich and booked a trial flight next week 🙂
They seem a fun crowd but Dale seemed slightly miffed about you mentioning beans! 😀

Suprisingly close to being on-topic. You can’t learn from an unlicenced field, hence the number of licenced fields is very relevant to your query.

Sorry Moggy, if me wanting to stay on topic offends, I’ll rename the thread what unlicensed airfields are available for me not to learn to fly at. :confused: :confused: :confused: 🙁

That’s still listed in a very recent flight guide I bought the other day. Next time I’m over Moggy’s way I’ll give them a call.

Back on topic, E Anglia has many, many unlicensed airfields. Just shame about the number of licensed ones!

Much as I think Dave’s Stearman is gorgeous and am looking forward to the 12th (thanks for the phone call Dave), and much as I am interested in the numbers of unlicensed airfields in Norfolk, the topic was actually about flying schools Bluerobin! :rolleyes:

Just been looking at pictures of your Stearman on the futureshox website. What a nice looking aircraft. Can’t wait to see it for real, when can I see it then?

Phil didn’t tell me he had a girlfriend when he said we could go to Leicstershire to see his Harvard! :confused:

When are you going to be at Norwich Dave? I would love a ride with you in your Stearman, You guys are great, another guy called Phil Earthy has offered me the chance to see his Harvard. Do you know him at all? I can’t wait to meet you guys and start learning to fly.
What colour is your Stearman?
