Thanks for the info. Guess I was ‘out’ when the team visited! πŸ˜€

IIRC last summer a ‘multi-department team’ visited various potential host museums / locations to canvas interest – IIRC this was a first! πŸ™‚

Thanks. Just skimmed through the eight pages in that thread but can’t find any info on how those museums actually managed to get on the list that is mentioned. I’m guessing there is some point of contact within the MoD but it isn’t very obvious.
I’m not overly concerned about getting a Nimrod (even though we have a very big runway at Bentwaters!), it would just be handy to know for future reference. πŸ˜‰
Cheers.

Graham,

The Nimrod disposal topic has been partially covered here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=98782&highlight=Nimrod

I might be wrong but I don’t think that many have been gifted! πŸ˜‰

Is there some sort of list that museum’s need to be on in order to get ‘gifted’ airframes from the MoD? A lot of Nimrods appear to be going to museums without appearing on the edisposals website. Haven’t seen anything appear on there for ages!
We would dearly love some airframes at Bentwaters but both those we’ve got so far have cost us a lot of money and require many thousands more pounds to be spent on them. It would be nice to get something gifted or loaned for free that didn’t require a major re-build! πŸ™‚
Cheers.

T-33 parts

Hi all,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a UK source for T-33 parts. In
particular, I need a tail fin/rudder assembly and a pair of tip tanks.
Kind regards.

Are they accepting fly-in visitors and if so do you have a contact number? Thanks.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting fly-ins for this event. We do, however, hold two fly-ins per year. If you email info@bcwm.org.uk you can find out when the next one is.
Regards.

There is an A10 canopy at the Bentwaters cold war jets museum, that I believe was found in the local forest.

David,
The A-10 canopy was given to us by a local Collector.
We also have an F-16 canopy and have recently acquired a very rare B-45 Tornado canopy! πŸ˜€

If anyone comes across a direct link to any of the available Tucano airframes (other than the Everett Aero machine), please post your findings here. Thanks πŸ™‚

Hi Rob,
Everett Aero currently has at least three Tucanos in storage at Bentwaters (ZF165, ZF200 and ZF450). Believe another one may have arrived last week.

Absolutely true … but I think there is one inside the base at Alconbury to this day … try Google Earth!

Yep. There is still an A-10 at Alconbury……80-0219/AR. It’s located on the USAF side of the base but difficult to see from the outside though.

who maintains the aircraft at Lakenheath I thought it had closed?

What happened to the A10 that used to guard Bentwaters?

There was never an A-10 gate guard at Bentwaters……..or any other gate guard either πŸ™‚
