I’ll put a seperate topic in a minute, but for those who watched this topic – I have just discovered that if you go into FS2002 Map & zoom in to an airport, you will see that the runways are numbered. COOL OR WHAT?
    Cheers,
    Terry.

Guess what – just checked fs9 & that Map doesn’t have numbered runways.
    What a swizz! 😮

Hi Murph……….Ababcus cannot suggest anything apart from renaming a gauge or two. Amazing & thankfully it’s sorted

Thank you both for your last 2 replies. I’ll get weaving as soon as I’ve downloaded a new Comet 4 this morning…. I really can’t be seen landing one of these beauties on the wrong runway 😀

Problem solved (info from Simvation guy) by going into the main fs9 sound folder & finding the GPWS folder & its files. I moved all the irritating files into another folder in My Docs, started fs9 to see the effect & Bingo – no irritating voices 😎

Thank you Bruce & my apologies for the delay in replying but I have been unable to get back into the site since your post. My browser kept saying it couldn’t locate it!!

ANYHOW – I have had a field day looking at all those lovely old British aircraft & will go with the Comet tomorrow, & who knows what else might tempt me
I’m grateful to you for the info.
    Terry.

This is a question for Future Pilot.

Did you know your jet photos link has a spyware cleaner thingy in it? It sprang up via my web browser, Firefox, & I couldn’t get rid of it.
I had to shut my Mac down in order to get away from it. I will not be clicking on other links on this site in future, if this is the sort of thing that happens.

Parrot fashion – I’m new to this sim stuff.
I wanted a Sidewinder but couldn’t get one. I walked into PC World just after Xmas, & was told “Any joystick will work with FS” having told them I’d just got FS2002. I spotted a Logitech Attack 3 & in the absence of ahything else to buy I picked one up, & was dumbfounded when I was asked for £12 something at the checkout. It was on the shelf for around £25. NOT TO WORRY – it is GREAT. It might not twist like we did last summer, but it works a treat.

Hello. I am very new to this flight sim stuff & microsoft (as I’m an Apple man) but I bought a Geeforce FX5500 for around £45 for the pc I have, for FS2002 I bought for Xmas. This pc is just used for this by the way. Playing with the settings helped & experimenting really helped to make things fly. This pc is about 2MGhz, XP & 756 (?) of RAM. Most settings are quite high & I do get smoke & tyre marks from landing the Tornado without due care.

The thing I found really helpful was to turn the realism settings to detect structural stress & damage. That really made me put kid gloves on. Now my Tornado just floats down. After all, it’s expensive & costly to repair!! I can now land Spitfires at 80 mph with just a whisper from the tyres. 🙂 Settings. It’s all in the settings.
