We do not need another ACIG. The original is doing well enough.

Sainik Samachar 🙂 The fatso is Minister of State for Defence.
Hey Deino, why dont you compile all the drawings that you regularly find into a single super-thread?
Any concrete plans for Scramble to be released in English?

AirForces Monthly – August(?) 2003
The first Indian Navy Il-38SD (IN305) lifts off from Khodynka for the short flight to Zhukovskii, on July 20, 2003. Note the locating lugs above the cockpit for the ESM antenna and the mounting for the electro-optical sighting turret under the nose. Equally noteworthy is the new weapons pylon at the port wing/fuslage junction, presumably matched by another on the starboard side. – Piotr butowski [AFM Comment]
Photo 3 shows IN304 with nose mounted sensor.
Phot 4 shows IN Tu-142 with a sensor on the nose which I cannot identify, help please.
I bet FC-1 is gonna sell like water in sahara if the priceis less than $10 mil a pop. This aircraft is gonna be the Fishbed replacement half the worlds been looking for since the 80’s. Airframe life (a lot better than the fishbed ofcourse) and powerplant might be a concern though. Not checked the figures, but they must ensure that the weight remains on the low side.
Unfortunetaly the term “AWACS” is one that is much abused by one and all to descibe anything that has a large radar attached to the body of the aircraft… :rolleyes:
I was wondering if Brazil could be a possibility in providing the platform?
Its gonna be Embraer. I suppose that the end result is expected to look something like the Swedish system.
Irkout will try to seel the Yak along with the Su-30 as a single package. Any possible Su-30 orders coming up? I guess Algeria is ruled out after the MiG buy.
But compared to the TLCA the naval version lacks the second seat, hence saving some fuel.
Moreover, the Hs-748s will be replaced by Embraer jets in the VIP role and the Saras in the training role. IIRC a news item quoted the IAF with a requirement of six Saras aircraft.
The Do-228 has been a great success for HAL, with customers from the IAF, IN and CG and a couple of other military customers in Asia. The Saras is smaller than the Dornier though and hence cannot replace it.
The govt would like to purchase C-130Js, which will bury the MTA for sure.
However, to replace the An-32 and Hs-748, around 150 aircraft would be required.
An-32s and Avros need not be replaced on a one-to-one basis. Transport aircraft are measured in terms of the loads they can carry.
Initially there was a stated IAF requirement of 100 aircraft, but this got toned down to 40 later. HAl was expecting to market the aircraft to both the military and civilian users, which in todays time is simply not feasible. With deflated order books and infighting among the Russians IMHO the MTA is as good as dead.
I am more excited about the Saras (called sometimes the LTA), which has finally started taxi trials. The development has been slow as snails, but hopefully things will speed up once the flights start like we saw in the LCA.
Here you go…the first pic is PV1 and the second TD1. The former has a whats-the-technical-term ‘slits’ on the inlets.
LCA PV1 – thats the third prototype after TD-1 and 2. Note electronics on fin leading edge and different inlet design.

no grey camo however 🙂 …yet
PV = Prototype Vehicle
TD = Tech Demonstrator
