I still dont understand why the aircraft spotted in China be indeed the same aircraft.

    ooops, 😡

i mean – I still dont understand why the aircraft spotted in China cannot be indeed the same aircraft.

    art,

So you mean, that while airframe itself is probably the same we saw in Israel, it now belongs to PRC and the radar on it is also probably chinese. It better be very advanced since it aint a roto-dome.

would like to know about your claim that A-50s have visited the PRC in the past

No claim, i was of the impression that Russians had sent aircraft for presentation/evaluation/testing/demo to China at least once before they got the joint contract.

The paint job and ventral fins on this “discovery” is same as the one on the A-50I Bort 78740. I still dont understand why the aircraft spotted in China be indeed the same aircraft.

While China does have an AWACS program based on the IL-76 platform, how can we be certain that this is indeed a chinese aircraft? AFAIK the A-50 has visited China in the past.

The Jaguar replaced the Canberra as far as the IAF was concerned. Its high loiter time is useful only if air superiority is guaranteed (Iraq) and AD resistance is non-existant. Refueling on Jags offsets that sole advantage. All photo pods today are computerised and SAMs can reach out to altitudes where even the Can isnt safe.

IIRC, these MiGs used the probes seen in Mirage-F1s – which the Iraqis also operated.

Saw a picture some time back at ACIG.

Unfortunately the article does not talk of an IFR capability.

    😎

Helicopter operational Orientation Course (HCOC) and Low Speed Handling (LSH)

more details man – keep it coming

PS An-32s can carry the FAB 500K M-62 in the bombing role, if needed.

“effective combat support roles” 🙂 not to forget the Harpy.

The An-32 has the ability to carry extrenal racks for bombing. Sri Lankans even carried out trials with Israeli LGBs with it. 😮

What are the reasons for not de-classifying other aircombat kills of that period?

IIRC it was because to get those kills the PAF pilots had violated their own RoEs. i.e. they crossed the border to shoot down those “classified” killls

    a) I have heard that soviet pilots were generally not allowed to engage PAF. Is that correct?

correct. however the tactics attempted in some later years suggest that they did try to trap PAF aircraft. Actually, both air forces were asked to show maximum restraint by their bosses.

However it must be clarified that the soviets themselves were mostly not involved, most of the kills were of the Afghan AF (DRAAF).

    b) I have heard rumours that blue on blue kill of PAF F-16 was actually a killed by soviets. Can anyone confirm that?

The MiG-23s on that mission were not carrying any A2A ordnance. The only other theory is that the F-16 was miraculously hit by the “cloud” of mines that was released by the attackers.

    c) Did American or anyother Nato pilot operated with PAF over Afghanistan or was it just soley a PAF mission.

Dont know, but the americans operated for many years from Pakistani bases. Including the Gary powers U-2 which was launched from Peshawar.
