I’ve never noticed a nose pitot on a Su-35 (T10M) before – presumably associated with the engine testing ???

It looks like it has yaw sensors/vanes ?

I think a system that can suspend a AEW radome from the rear ramp may be more practical to develop. Potentially it can be a roll on roll off type system.

To be honest Blitzo whilst better than nothing those two Hamilton class were hardly the deal of the century! Two vessels built in the 1960’s with equipment removed before delivery to the Philippines. Part of the problem the Philippine navy faces is the vast majority of their fleet is second hand and elderly, the older a piece of equipment the greater the maintenance.

These cutters increased the total diesel consumption of the whole Phillipine Navy by several notches! :highly_amused:

The Philippines should go for modern CODAD OPVs. They will be much cheaper.

GRSE launches 4th P-28 corvette for IN

Barak-1s are going to come from older vessels being retired. Of the three Godavari class ships being retired, 1 is going to INS Vikramaditya. I hope the remaining two find their way into the Kamorta class.

Looking at the Kamorta-class corvettes, it appears that India is concentrating its indigenisation efforts on smaller vessels. Perhaps this new corvette project is intended in the same vein, as a low-cost means of keeping indigenous development projects ticking over.

It is across the board. As we speak there are 3 x Project-15B destroyers under construction (these are over and above the 2 x Project 15 Alphas still in trials). The recent news item speaks of inducting 7 Project 17A frigates which are 6000 ton vessels. Then there is Vikrant being built at Cochin…

IMHO continuing Azmat class vessels with modifications such as 76 mm cannons should also be explored.

Strange decision by US Congress consdiering the fighting Turkey and Pak are doing against ISIS and Taliban respectively.

They probably did not want a risk of their own technology being used against their own ships (ref: AQIS hijack attempt on Zulfiqar).

….It rather removes the logic of continued operation of the lone Perry in Pakistan Navy service, with the Tariq on their way out one elderly poorly armed perry seems to be more of a burden then a benefit.

For political and fiscal reasons Pakistan Navy finds it difficult to acquire new platforms. I see Alamgir continue to serve till her material state permits. At the moment it is a dedicated patrol and ASW vessel and fills a niche role in the PN. Lastly, all navies in the region have precedents of operating even 1 unique class ship in interest of force levels.

… an order for 40 M2K-5s (that were never delivered) …

Was the Mirage actually ordered? I believe the negotiations never concluded.

Agreed. The glaring deficiency remaining in the IN fleet is ASW….ironically its biggest actual threat. Roving small unit ASW hunter groups would be one approach to redressing this and one that would demand the kinds of hull numbers indicated.

Hi, how is the IN going to employ ASW? For example, will IN be sending out ASW corvettes to the ocean looking for PN subs, or will it primarily use it for defensive patrol against attack on strategic targets? Or maybe an escort in a naval task force?
